22 Troy Having called their last witness, the prosecution rested, but Troy felt far from relieved. His body hummed with electrical energy radiating off Silas beside him. The scent of him and the heat of his body reached for Troy as though a tangible force, enticing him to give in. To l**t, to the possibility of love. To a future. Troy longed to take life by the balls like both his mom and Chase had pushed him to do. He wanted the same happiness inflected in his best friend’s voice when speaking about the person he’d found—his person. No perfect man existed, no one sitting on a high horse, honest in all things.
