Acknowledgements Having an idea and turning it into a book is as hard as it sounds; it is an experience both internally challenging and hugely rewarding. This book would not have been possible without Michael, my husband extraordinaire. He was my first reader and fierce critic, motivating muse and staunch supporter, always quick to offer invaluable, right-on-the-money counsel. I am eternally grateful for his unconditional love, commitment, wonderfully crazy ideas and vision. You are and always will be the Love of my Life. I am forever indebted to William Greenleaf—wordsmith extraordinaire—for his inestimable editorial help, laser-attention to detail, and keen insight in bringing my story to life. The literary world is a better place thanks to him. Last but certainly not least my deep gratitude goes out to Christo Dagorov—fine artist extraordinaire—whose astounding original artwork touched me deeply when I first came across it, and which now graces both the front and back covers of this book and the new-chapter pages inside it. I feel blessed to be calling him my friend. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. ~Khalil Gibran Contents Acknowledgements Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Chapter 18 Chapter 19 Chapter 20 Chapter 21 Chapter 22 Chapter 23 Chapter 24 Chapter 25 Chapter 26 Chapter 27 Chapter 28 Chapter 29 Chapter 30 Chapter 31 Chapter 32 Chapter 33 Chapter 34 Chapter 35 Chapter 36 Chapter 37 Chapter 38 Chapter 39 Chapter 40
