I pushed myself against the wall to stand up before Ariadne finishes her wine, but I still feel dirty. Why would I let him touch me, why could I not scream when I had the chance? I opened the door to my bed chamber, and walked to the bed. I laid on the bed and continue to cry after some time I knew I had to sleep so that my eyes would not tell the next day that I was crying.

I woke up to the knocking sound coming from the door only to open it to find Lilian outside, she reminded of the departure of Ariadne.

“you need to get dressed if you want to bid Ariadne farewell, she leaves soon”, Lilian said

“I will be ready soon, just beg her to wait for me” I said faking a smile at her. I shut the door and sighed. She is leaving. The one that saved me and still kept saving me is leaving. How am I going to survive from Theseus? maybe I could convince her to take me along……yes I would convince her. I do not want to stay here with the two devils. Now I will be vulnerable to them with Ariadne. I went to the bathe chamber and found warm water in the tub, the lady from the kitchen must have brought it in.

I bathe and picked a light green dress to wear and some of the jewelries that Ariadne bought for me at the market. She also bought me some perfume and beauty ointment for my face. I applied it all because I want to look beautiful for Ariadne. She has been kind to me. I opened the door and walked to her bed chambers. I knocked at the door and waited, soon Lilian came to open to the door, smiling while she complimented on my dress and beauty. I walked in and noticed Ariadne was fully dressed as well in men clothing again. She smiled and that was when I started crying again.

She rushed to me, while pleading that I stopped crying,

“let me come along, please you would not know that am there..”

“Ocean, it is not safe for you there, you must understand the danger there. It’s safer for you here” Ariadne said

I continued to cry until I heard a knock informing Ariadne that the villagers and the men were ready. She smiled and assured me that everything will be better, and that am safe here. If only she could understand the threat on my life. When we got outside by the carriage, I hugged her, telling her how much I would miss her,

“Lilian will stay here with you, so you won’t feel lonely” Ariadne said., But I was still unhappy then she dropped the bomb that she must have thought would make me feel better,    

“listen everyone, this is your new queen since she has been chosen by the god to bear children for your king and continue the emperor lineage. You will respect and protect her. She is your queen now. I dropped her arm when I heard her final words, now I would sure be killed. Then the men and villagers fall to their knees to bow, they chanted…. long live the Queen, if only you knew how short my life would be with all this.

“be safe ocean,” Ariadne said smiling…now your people will protect you” ……I gasped and faked a smile. I saw the doors of the carriage shut while trying to hold back the tears…. then she was gone……. I turned back to see Theseus smile, but Leonidas looked confused. He must not have known who I am. The villagers smiled at me as I made my way back into the castle, I need to run to my bed chambers not that it will save me from the two devils. I got to the door, shut it and crawled to my bed crying. I cried for a long time before giving in to slumber.

I woke up feeling really weak, I tried to stand up when I feel drowsy, then I remember that I did not eat earlier on. I was shocked when I looked outside and noticed it is dusk I slept all through the day. I knew I had to eat something and I remember it must be time for supper. I washed my face and dried it. Then I went to the kitchen to get some food. I walked past many guards on duty only for them to stop and bow. I did not know how to react to that, so I just nodded and continued to the kitchen, there I met the woman from before.

She smiled and bowed lowly then said: “ my queen, it’s an honor to have you here, it’s almost time for supper and I made something special to welcome you here”

“you can call me ocean, please. I just need something to eat, am hungry”, I told her,

“yes you must be hungry, you did not come for breakfast and lunch”, She said…….i was going to instruct one of the girls to bring you some snacks, but It skipped my mind. Supper will be ready in some time…

“I will just wait and eat here if you do not mind” I said to her not wanting to face Theseus and Leonidas.

“no my queen, the kitchen is unfit for a queen” girls take the food out while I bring my queen..

“no I will just wait here and eat my supper” I said while she pulled me away following the girls out through a door, then another hallway with a painting that looked like a bird. Soon we were in the dining hall, she led me to my seat beside Theseus’s, who still is not here. I sighed while waiting for the maids to serve me but when they did not, I asked

“what are you waiting for, serve me please”I said still trying to avoid Theseus..

“my queen we have to wait for my king” she said calmly,

I sighed softly, while resting back in the chair. I was trying to collect my thoughts when Theseus decided to grace us with his presence, Leonidas followed in closely. Theseus’s eyes wandered before falling on me, I was petrified just staring at his cold eyes, he held my gaze for a short time before he broke it walking to sit beside me. Leonidas was equally staring at me and he smiled at me when he sat in his seat beside Ariadne’s, I smiled back at him. The food was served and I started eating before every other person at the table.

“you seem famished Ocean? Leonidas asked me chuckling,

“Yes I skipped breakfast and lunch”, I said smiling back at him,

“you miss Ariadne already”? he asked pouting

“yes, I do” I said honestly, but I laughed when he made a face at me, I then started to choke on my food. The servants hurried to my side giving me water, I settled down after some time and turned to see Theseus furious, I could see anger in his eyes……he rose abruptly and left the dining hall…….

Once I was full, I got up and bid Leonidas good night, he offered to escort me to my room but I refused while the head cook offered to send another maid with me so I do not get lost. We set out after she cleared my plate heading to my bed chambers, but to my surprise Theseus was there leaning against the wall. I stood suddenly, shivering, I remembered how angry he looked and he still looked angry, what will he do now?

  We got to the door, while he dismissed the maid and tried to follow me inside the room, I tried to top him only to be pushed in slightly by him.

“sit, my queen”, he said in a mockery tone

My hands were sweating right bad by now and I was covered in sweats, but I obeyed him. I sat down on the cushion in the room facing the table.

“since you are my queen now as my sister and the high priestess stated, you must behave as a queen would behave and fulfill your duties as a queen, I have come here tonight to tell you about them, you cannot just sit down on the throne chair for nothing, you will perform your duties, you will earn each and every bow you get starting from tomorrow……”and with that he left me to my thoughts or fear more like.
