Chapter 4: A New Life The sound of waves crashing against the shore had become a familiar comfort to Elena. For the past week, she had lived in Margaret's small cottage by the sea. Every morning, she woke up hoping her memories would return. Every morning, she was disappointed. Elena stood outside the cottage, staring at the endless blue ocean stretching before her. Who was she? The question haunted her every waking moment. "You're thinking too much again." Margaret's voice pulled her from her thoughts. Elena managed a weak smile. "I can't help it." The older woman handed her a basket. "Then stop thinking and help me buy groceries." Elena laughed softly. "Yes, ma'am." For a few hours, she almost felt normal. The small coastal town was peaceful. People greeted each other warmly. Children played in the streets. Fishermen returned with their daily catch. It felt like the kind of place where nothing bad could happen. Yet Elena couldn't shake the feeling that she didn't belong here. As they walked through the marketplace, a jewelry stand caught her attention. Something shiny reflected in the sunlight. A silver necklace. The moment Elena saw it, a sharp pain shot through her head. Images flashed before her eyes. A man's hand fastening a necklace around her neck. A deep voice whispering something she couldn't hear. Gray eyes. The same gray eyes from her dreams. Elena gasped. The basket slipped from her hands. Apples rolled across the ground. "Elena!" Margaret rushed to her side. "I'm okay." But she wasn't. The vision had felt real. Too real. For the first time, she wasn't just seeing random flashes. She was remembering. Someone had given her a necklace. Someone important. Someone she cared about. But who? Miles away, Damien Blackwood sat in his office. He hadn't slept properly since Elena disappeared. His desk was covered with investigation reports. Photographs. Witness statements. Security footage. Every clue led to another dead end. Marcus entered carrying a file. "We received new information." Damien looked up immediately. "What is it?" Marcus handed him the report. "A woman matching Elena's description was rescued from the ocean." Damien's heart nearly stopped. "What?" "The report came from a small coastal town." For the first time in days, hope appeared in Damien's eyes. "She's alive." Marcus hesitated. "We don't know that yet." Damien stood. "We're leaving." "Now?" "Now." Nothing was going to stop him. Not until he found Elena. Meanwhile, Sophia Sinclair was losing control. Her elegant apartment looked like a battlefield. Broken glasses littered the floor. Furniture had been overturned. Her patience was gone. "How hard is it to find one woman?" She glared at the man standing before her. "We're trying." "Trying isn't enough." The man lowered his head. Sophia's hands trembled. Not from anger. From fear. If Elena regained her memories, everything would be over. The murder. The lies. The secrets. All of it. Her phone suddenly buzzed. A message appeared. LOCATION CONFIRMED. Sophia's eyes widened. Finally. A cruel smile spread across her face. "Prepare the car." The man frowned. "You're going yourself?" "Yes." Sophia grabbed her handbag. "Some problems require a personal touch." That evening, Elena sat alone on the beach. The sunset painted the sky with shades of gold and crimson. For the first time since waking up, she felt calm. Peaceful. Then she noticed someone watching her. A man dressed in black stood near the rocks. His face was hidden beneath a cap. Elena frowned. When she looked again, he was gone. A chill ran down her spine. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe she was imagining things. But deep inside, her instincts screamed otherwise. Someone was watching her. Someone dangerous. At that exact moment, a black luxury car entered the town. Inside sat Damien Blackwood. His eyes scanned every street they passed. Every shop. Every face. Searching. Hoping. Praying. And only a few miles away, another vehicle arrived. Sophia Sinclair stepped out. A cold smile on her lips. Both of them were looking for Elena. One wanted to save her. The other wanted to silence her forever. Neither knew that fate had already set their collision course. And before the week was over, blood would be spilled once again.
