Lucy swung open the back door and bounded out into the garden, her little heart full of excitement and anticipation. The arrival of a new neighbour meant the beginning of a great adventure, so far as the ten year old was concerned.
Her previous neighbour, Mr Jenkins, had been a lovely old man who made a point of always remembering her birthday, and presenting her with a huge tin of her favourite sweets at Christmas. But now, sadly, he was gone, banished to an old people’s home on the other side of town.
