“Come on, Gerry, wake up for me.”
Gerry Spicer could hear the voice in the distance. Sweet, tuneful, encouraging. It was the kind of voice most men would do anything for, and right now, it was focused directly on him.
Gerry attempted a reply, but the tube which protruded from his mouth prevented him from answering.
He tried to lift his head, but even that seemed beyond his ability.
Finally, he managed to open his eyes. Only slightly at first, his lids feeling as if they had been stuck down with superglue.
They flickered open for a second, and for that brief moment Gerry caught a glimpse of the gorgeous face that voice belonged to.
