Conrad led them in prayer, begging God for forgiveness for the evil deed they had committed, assuring him that they had acted within their marriage vows and not in any way as a result of l**t of wicked thoughts. They prayed for more than an hour before Conrad finally decided that they were done. Soon after, he fell asleep. Upon waking the following morning, Conrad rode straight to the castle to confront the baroness, once more. Although he knew that he could not bring her to justice, he could at least revel in the fact that he had three of her disciples under lock and key and witness the smug look on her face dissipate when he informed her that they were to be strung up at sundown.
