Raymond Garrett’s closest neighbour lived by the northern tip of the lake. Her name was Ramona Callis, twice divorced, in her mid-forties with a ferocious terrier for company.
Garrett made her acquaintance at the general provisions store in town, five kilometres from the lake. She spotted him debating between two brands of corned beef and had helped him decide.
