An iris and palm scan unlocked Jeremiah Smith’s office aboard his yacht. He strode in; sensors detected his presence and turned on the lights, air-conditioning. The husky voice of his AI assistant said, “Good afternoon, Jeremiah.”
“Hello, Freyja.” He had named her after the Norse goddess of war.
Smith settled into a high-backed swivel armchair at his mahogany work desk. He placed his hands atop the desk and a section lost its wood hues, turning translucent, morphing into the semblance of an electric-blue touch keyboard. Simultaneously, three flat screens on his desk came alive with the company logo: a projectile revolving around a wireframe globe.
