**Thalia I flinched upon hearing the tap on the table, so I regained my senses again, putting together that I was with Lilo and should comport myself. I sighed out loud and grabbed the cup of yoghurt she had ordered for us. “You seem to be having a lot of time during weekends. Could it be because of your man?” I asked, but she didn't answer. When I raised my face, she was staring at me, and that was kind of scary, so I dropped back the yoghurt after having just a spoon. “Is there a problem?” “Shouldn't I be asking that?” she probed and took a gulp. “I noticed that you've been zoning off like something is eating up your mind. Care to share with me? What's troubling you?” I wasn't so good at sharing my problems with people, but this in particular was killing me from the inside, and somehow I didn't like it. Getting over a man was such an easy thing for me, but I couldn't succeed anymore when it came to Vito. It has been one week since we met at his club party and I said those to him. Lilo had mentioned heading to the club from here because of the party night, and I wasn't going to be present with her again as she wished, because seeing Vito could make my heart leap to my throat. “Don't tell me it's still because of Dante. I didn't want a divorce between you two, but not when it has to do with him cheating on you with your friend.” She pushed further, and I raised my head, having no choice but to spill it all. “It's not him, but the Enforcer at the club.” Her pupils dilated, “Wait, Vito, that I saw you with?” I nodded, and then went ahead to explain how we met and how our discussion went on that day. “Since then, I couldn't get him out of my mind. He showed up on Monday, and I didn't waste time with him. I hadn't ever gone insane this way because of a man, and I really do not like it, babe. You know, I want to stay single and just focus on myself. I thought hearing him mention not being interested in dating too would make me feel better…but nothing is doing justice to my feelings.” I sucked on my lower lip, and then tucked my hair behind my ears. “Isn't this weird? I had just divorced Dante, and I was head over heels for a man.” She chuckled, “As if…” “What?” “Dante cheated, so you're not supposed to be drowning in sorrow for the divorce. I'll advise you to give Vito a shot; he has good comments in the club and could be a nice guy,” she pressed forward, and I almost hissed. “You can't, because of that asshole, stay single forever when he could soon get married. You should come to the club tonight and see if he would make a move on you. If he does, either today or anytime, give him a shot and not send him off.” Not a bad idea. But I was scared, so scared of tasting another heartbreak again. I'd already passed through three and wouldn't want to have another, or my heart might shut down. “Will I come pick you up?” she asked, and I shook my head. “I know my way now, so don't bother and have a good time with your man, instead of rushing out like the last time because you had to take me home,” I answered, and she chuckled. This was my first time going out with Lilo, and it felt like we were drawing closer than we were before. I had all my time invested with Freda and only chatted and made calls with Lilo at random times, but she didn't mind and agreed to go out with me today when I proposed it. *** By 9 pm, I mounted my bike and began riding down to the clubhouse. I had taken a nap when I returned from the date with Lilo, so I overslept. She had told me to give a call once I arrived so she could come take me in, and that was the best, because that place could suffocate someone. It was a fifteen-minute ride with the bike, and once I parked and pulled out my helmet, I called and asked her to come outside so she could see me quicker. In two minutes, she kissed my cheek, making me giggle. “You must be having a good time with your man. I'm always elated whenever I recall that you're engaged, because I always wished you would bag a man that knows your worth.” I said, getting off my bike. We entered the building together, and then she took me to a gathering of about fifty people or more. It had both genders, and they were all seated, eating and chatting. And there, I couldn't hear the party noise again, so I bet it was soundproofed, because it wasn't that far from the party ground. “This is my man—the Prez.” She introduced, and I exchanged pleasantries with the dude. She introduced me to everyone else, then ended it with an announcement, “Lia is a mechanic, so you all should patronise her henceforth.” “A female mechanic?” “Does she look like she knows what she's doing with those tools?” “Is she the one Vito also talked about?” the last guy with dreadlocks asked, and Lilo nodded in response. “I would give her a try too. Vito doesn't have patience, so if he went there and testified, then she's probably good.” “You could grab a sandwich,” the one at my side said, and I shook my head. “Huh? Vito isn't here; is that why?” Lilo knocked the guy, “Mind your business…” Then she grabbed my hand, and we began leaving their midst. I heard their murmurs from behind, but I was less interested. “If you follow this way, you will get to the garage where Vito is with his bike. He took his dinner there, so I can't really tell what the problem is with him,” she elaborated, and then let go of me. “Interested in seeing him, right?” she questioned, and I gave a single nod. “Just tell him you came to greet and try leaving after that, then see how he reacts.” What a task… “Fine! I'll be back.” I pecked her cheek and began leaving. I found the garage she talked about and entered there. It had lots of bikes in it, so I was slowly walking and looking around to find Vito. The garage was so spacious, making me wonder if they didn't think of dividing it into two instead of having it together this way. Footsteps from behind me caused me to halt, and then I slowly turned around. A lady—should I say a stripper? She was walking away, focused on her steps. Her ass danced around; she was almost naked. And then came another sound, and Vito came into light. Blood drained from my face. I looked at the stripper walking away and then at him; anger flooded my chest, and I just shut my eyes, hoping that everything became a dream when I opened them again.
