**Thalia The next morning, I headed to see my mum, who was already awake. She was getting out of the bathroom, while the caregiver walked beside her and was not even supporting her steps. Seeing that brightened my mood more that morning. “Momma, I'm so glad you're improving." She chuckled, “It's all thanks to you, Lia. You hired a good caregiver, and she's so helpful.” Oh my… After the caregiver left us, I grabbed a seat to have a short talk with her. I discussed her health, and then she asked about my husband. I had told her about Dante and what I was suspecting, and she advised that I shouldn't act without being sure he was guilty. “He cheated with Freda, and the stupid friend I had didn't even feel any remorse for what she did,” I told her, and she sighed heavily. “We are divorced, mum. I'm back to my single life, and I don't think I'd be giving a chance to a man again.” She shook her head, “How can multitudes of men pay for the sins of just one man? There are good men out there. Just don't fall in love hastily and make sure you study a man very well. And most importantly, if you ever fall for a man again, make out time for them and yourself. Not to be with him, but to be able to catch on to his lifestyle." If my mum found out that I was the one who funded Dante, she would be so disappointed in me. I was already pissed at myself, so sharing it with her was one thing I shouldn't even think of. She told me how my dad vanished a certain morning, and after all her efforts to reach him were in vain, she bore her cross alone and became a father figure for me too. My dad was a mechanic, so she locked up his workshop, had me train for the skill, and now I was handling my father's workshop that he left behind. Several times, she didn't want to think that he left to stay with another woman, and always warned me to be careful not to be in the same dilemma as she. In fact, I was so lucky not to have a child with Dante before we ended things. All his threats that he would have me back, as no man out there can stand my grease and oily smell, were just nothing. He also warned me not to dare finalise the divorce, and I was going to do that today. After a few times with my mum, I left and returned to my home first so I could grab the divorce agreement. It was still on the bed where I kept it before leaving, and the i***t I had things with in the past knew better than to show up to break into this house. The least he could do was threaten me from afar, but he would do nothing. He was just a government worker, and any slight mistake made would damage his reputation in this town. I put my attorney on a phone call, and she insisted on coming to my workshop since she was around that area, so I had to get ready for work and left with the agreement to that place. “Boss!” my female apprentice mentioned with a bow. “How long did you stay last night? You almost completed the task we were working on.” This girl; she was conflicted at first about being a mechanic until her parents brought her here. Seeing that her boss was a mechanic gave her a reason to do what she loved, and I liked how she was learning faster. “I stayed till midnight. But that was because I dozed off while taking a rest.” I said to her, getting in so I could change up. When I returned, I saw the men arguing about a party that they should attend and if they would be welcome. “What party is that?” I asked, shifting the spanner on the ground to the side. Henry answered, “The Thunder Road MC is hosting a party. I have a friend who just joined them, so they are welcoming him. But this dickhead doesn't believe that the MC accepts people of our age.” Rubbish! “Then go see for yourself…” I managed to respond because I had already asked; then I strolled into the garage to finish up what I was doing last night. “Who completed this?” I asked, seeing everything fixed. “I did, so I could go to the party,” said Henry, and I shook my head. He must think that I cared where he went. I was twenty-five right now, and he was twenty-three, so I wouldn't stop an adult from moving when they wanted, provided they complete their task or would do it later. I picked up some other bike to work on when my attorney arrived, and I left what I was doing. We chatted beside her car for some time over Dante and our divorce, including my friend, before I gave back the agreement to be finalised. “Heaven knows well that I didn't think you would return this. I prayed it wouldn't happen,” she said and threw it into her car. “So now, what's your plan?” “What plan? I don't have a plan other than to focus on myself from now on.” I answered and crossed my legs while leaning on her car. We stayed silent for some time before she asked, “Would you party with me? My fiancé's club is hosting a party tonight, and I'll be there tomorrow night.” I turned to her, “Your fiancé? Have you ever had one?” She nodded, "I'd been so ashamed to mention that I fell in love with a biker. He's the President of the Thunder Road MC, and we've been together for three years now. You know, as an attorney, I didn't want to expose my relationship until I was sure that they are neat and do not do illegal stuff that could complicate me.” Hmm! I didn't see this coming. “But I'm not sure I'll be available. You can still attend without me, right?” I asked, and she nodded. “I've been working overtime so I can round up all these before this week ends.” She shrugged, “I thought you would need to clear your mind from your ex-husband if you joined me, but it's still okay.” “Next time! Do well to tell me on time since you're now part of them." I said, while I didn't even think I would attend in the future, because I disliked whatever had to do with bikers. Years ago, I had returned from school when a biker rode in here and dragged one of my dad's apprentices out. He beat the boy up and left him to die there. I was just eight then and could recall how much my dad tried until he saved that boy. And then a few days later, my dad vanished without a trace. Initially, my mum told me he travelled and would be back soon. But after seven years and I hadn't seen him again, my mum finally told me the truth, which I held until now. My attorney's name was Lilo, and she was a high school friend whom I didn't know I would meet again after years of being out of school. It's been three years since we met again, and I would say it was all good that I had her. She left soon after, and I returned to work. My attention was focused on the motorcycle engine I was dealing with when the roaring of a bike made me turn around. It sounded like that of the biker from last night, and upon seeing the man take off his helmet, my eyes flew wide. Why was he back? Did the bike develop another issue? I stood and walked up to him. “Hi,” I waved my hand at him. He had that soft smile across his face, “I came to check if you're sober.” Jesus Christ! Who still does that for people they have no business with? “I'm fine now. I was even thinking if I failed at my work due to my emotional state last night.” I said and breathed out. “Any other thing? I also sell motorcycle parts in case you need any.” He looked so amazed, his gaze darting around. “Well, I came to invite you to a party. You're a good drinker and can grab a lot of free drinks back home.” He stretched his hand, handing over a card to me. I took it and read the club name. ‘The same that Lilo just mentioned.’ I thought and blew out the air. What should I do? I shouldn't pick interest in biker clubs, but I felt rejecting his invitation wouldn't look good too. He'd come all the way here to check on me and invite me. So even if it was this once… “Okay! I'll try to be present.” I said to him, and he gave me a thumbs up. He climbed onto his bike once again, "I'm waiting to see you,” he said before putting on his helmet and riding off. He just came here for this? So impressive! I turned around to see my three apprentices all staring at me as if they'd seen a ghost.
