The weekend had raced by too quickly. By the end of rehearsals on Monday, which lasted exactly two hours that afternoon, everyone was dripping with sweat, overheated, and cranky. Even the two oscillating fans working overtime in both wings could not lift the stifling heat. Professor Dixon held true to her word that the theater would be their meeting place for the month of June. Or maybe she was punishing the entire cast because of Philip Stevenson’s lack of professionalism. He’d dropped out of the play via a telephone call with her over the weekend. Avoiding any details, Professor Dixon explained to everyone in attendance that, “Philip has asked to be excused from the play due to personal matters.” The professor went on to say that auditions for a new Demetrius would be held the next day
