Germain pulled into Jace’s driveway twenty minutes later, shut off the engine, got out, and walked around the car to the passenger side. He opened the door for Jace, reached for his hand, and slipped his head under his arm for support. They walked to the front door. As they climbed the front porch, Jace said, “Looks like my dad’s home.” Germain asked, “Do you want me to go inside with you?” “If you don’t mind.” “It won’t be awkward with your dad?” Jace said, “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have gotten this far.” He turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. Germain held onto Jace tightly. “Come in,” Jace said. The sudden movement in the foyer aroused Jace’s father.
