We all dream of finding a soulmate who's the best person in the world; however, finding the right person is rarely that simple
But it could be…
…Especially if we are talking about someone you'd have to spend the rest of your life with, or at one point in your life bear their children– now that's where the coin flips.
Kaida is no different, her expectations were similar to those her age. A candlelit dinner on a private beach, where they'll gaze into each other's eyes and forget about the impending full moon.
But her story starts differently with a what-if scenario…
What if She only had a few more moments to play the pretty princess before she would become the Luna?
Exactly…
She had less than a day to prepare herself for the choosing contest but she had a small problem– something felt like a ticking bomb that not even the alpha has to know about.
She had the opportunity of knowing Kaius and his family for nearly three years– it wasn't so much a privilege as her family name was equally as prestigious as the Alpha’s.
Their relationship has been somewhat of a spice in her life– and by spicy, it has had its fair share of breakups and amendments. The alpha, Kaius as he is called, is a very unpredictable personality– he is undoubtedly handsome, and widely every girl's dreams, but he had his mind set on affairs of the pack even at a very young age.
You see, Kaius was raised by a single mother and a practical uncle who made sure he got everything he wanted. And ever since then, he has been juggling the affairs of the larkspur pack for as long as Kaida could remember.
But she digressed…
The two lovebirds walked down the street; the evening was warm as they headed back home after a long night at the Loft. It was a multi-venue bar, always teeming with life.
The two, Kaius and Kaida, clung onto each other, laughter filling the air around them. He kissed her forehead and asked her, “ You're awake… good, ”
Kaida looked at him, her eyes were dull and tired from a wild night. She leaned on his shoulder as they walked through the night.
“Uh, no more taverns, okay? I'm already feeling pretty rough. Remember, I did way more shots than you! ”
Kaius chuckled, “ Of course not– Should've stuck to beer, something less light than you could accommodate, those whiskeys are hitting you hard, aren't they?”
She pouts and nods wearily.
"Can we…Like, have babies? ” Kaida said with a giggle.
"What are you saying ”. Kaius burst into a playful laugh, he knew she was drunk but he loved her, but sometimes she has these diva moments where she needs extra attention and this was one of those needy moments.
"You promise? ” Kaida insisted, her voice barely above a whisper.
He kissed her again, this time on the forehead “ I promise ”.
Kaida however was a bit drunk, her footsteps were sloppy and weighed, but if she were in her right sense she'd probably blame Kaius.
You see, Kaius has a unique way of finding happiness. He's always up for a challenge, whether it's a spontaneous chugging contest or getting matching tattoos in unexpected places. Lately, they've both been enjoying late-night outings, just going out and coming back whenever.
It may seem reckless, but it's his way of unwinding from the pressures of leading the pack and managing his various estates and businesses. Kaida can understand why he needs that release.
That day was a Friday evening, and not everyone came out around almost midnight– not everyone took that risk. Mystery Ends was a troubled town, The couple knew more than anyone that it was unsafe for even if they were genetically superior to most risks, they were still vulnerable to a few.
As they walked down the path, a gunshot suddenly cracked through the air, making them freeze.
They waited for another shot, but then a guy came running out of the darkness, looking freaked out. He was wearing a hooded jacket, holding a gun in one hand and a purse in the other. It was clear he'd just robbed someone - or maybe even hurt them. Kaius and Kaida stood there, unsure of what to do next
He came running, sweating as he rushed. His footsteps were unsteady but vicious.
Kaius had been the one to see him first and his instincts told him to hide while the madman ran past them without even a hint of notice.
As the frantic man emerged, Kaida tried to stand up, but Kaius held her back.
"I've got this, just stay here and I'll catch him, ” he said. But Kaida insisted, “ I'm not drunk, I'm just... creatively expressing myself." She smiled and stood up, swaying slightly.
Kaius chuckled and helped her up, his smile wide. “ You little brat, you're wasted. Even your breath gives you away." He teased, tapping her on the back. "Go on, go ahead, chase after him if you think you can keep up. I'll try to catch up to you both. ”
“ … or maybe call the cops! ”
Kaida stood up and swayed back a few steps, Kaius caught her by the hips, and she leaned forward and her lips met his.
“ Okay, gimme a minute to breathe… ” she sat back down to catch her breath.
Kaius couldn't help teeing off at her ridiculousness.
"Alright– help me up, let's do this, ” she said, wrapping her hand around Kaius’ arm and surging upwards.
“You know—you're so drunk, it's adorable, ”
She took off with a giggly snort, her legs trembling beneath her.
“YOU GOT THIS! ”
"SHUT YOUR TRAP! . ” Kaida retorted.

The man was still confusedly ransacking across the street, he took a hard left and ran into an alley but he immediately stopped when he saw shadows move at the corner of his eyes.
He braced his steps, and his hands tightened on the gun but his fingers were trembling like crazy. Something wafted behind him, “ Who's there? ” he called out, his eyes moving back and forth in anxiety.
"I've got a freaking gun, man. Don't mess with me, ” he stepped back, still sweating. He pointed the gun at the walls, he aimed at the sky, then the floor, anywhere he saw any unlikely movement or a slight creak. Even the winds startled him to the very bone.
"what's me your name, ” Kaida asked from the shadows, her soft voice but the man barked furiously, lunging at moving shadows.
The madman spun towards the voice, firing his pistol wildly, but his bullets mostly struck a wall of darkness, the shadows swallowing the light and sound. He realized he was shooting blindly, unsure of his target.
Kaida saw her chance and took it, fueled by a fierce determination to prove herself. With years of studying entrapments and a brief detective stint under her belt, she was ready. This was her moment to shine, to earn the respect of her pack, father, and future alpha
The thief turned only to catch a glimpse of Kaida lunging at him, her fangs and claws ready to pull him apart but midway, she felt a hand haul her back into his embrace. The hug was warm and soothing, she didn't know why it felt oddly soft, like a padded pillow but she found her head buried in his chest.
Kaida's eyes narrowed as she turned to face Kaius, his voice low and even. “ Were you planning on killing the man? ”he asked, his gaze piercing through the darkness. Kaida's instincts flared, recognizing the alpha's tone, but she didn't need rescuing. She was in control.
As Kaius hugged her close, the criminal turned and ran down the alley
“You do know he's getting away, ”.
“You think? ”.
Just as the criminal thought he'd escaped, a chorus of sirens and flashlights erupted from the end of the alley, bathing him in a blinding glare.
A phalanx of police officers emerged, guns drawn and trained on him. “ You're under arrest, young man,” a commanding voice boomed. “ Put your hands behind your head and slowly turn around.”
The criminal's eyes darted wildly, realizing too late that he was surrounded. The game was up.
"I think we should go home now”. Kaida said.
Kaius nodded, his expression softening as he mentioned his mom. “ She's struggling to breathe again, ”he said, his voice laced with empathy. “ My uncle just called." Kaida's hand found his, their fingers intertwining.
“Let's go home, ”
