THE ESCAPE

On a Wednesday morning, the sky wasn't bright; it was covered in clouds. After crying her eyes out as usual behind closed doors, she thought of an idea. "I can't continue staying here like a slave," she murmured to herself. "I have to think of a way to get out of here fast before it gets out of hand." Before she completed her statement, Conrad came in with a plate of food, smiling. "Morning, babe," he greeted her, not expecting a response because he knew she was angry with him. "Hey, love, how are you doing?" she responded. Conrad was so surprised and speechless. He hugged her tightly. " Have you really forgiven me? You have just made me the happiest man on earth," he said, still hugging her tightly. "I didn't know what to do when you said you wanted to leave," he continued. "I couldn't think straight." "I'm sorry too," she said, looking straight into his eyes. She then kissed him, and he took advantage of this opportunity; he held her by the waist and also kissed her so hungrily. He took off her clothes, and they had s*x. He hadn't changed; he was still so ha*d on her, and his urge grew so strongly. He grabbed her b**bs roughly and started groping them, letting his hands settle on her th*igh. Bella shouted at the top of her voice, m*aning out so loudly and deeply. When he was done, he put on her pa*nties and drew up her dress gown, still kissing her neck deeply. From that day on, he showed her love, care, and gave her all his attention. He cooked for her, massaged her legs, bought her gifts and presents, but one thing didn't change: he was still that controlling Conrad she knew. He hadn't changed. He monitored who she talked to and still didn't allow her to go out. All through the week, she was indoors. He personally told his guard to watch over her whenever he was gone. She still wasn't given her phone. She was still treated like a slave; the only thing he didn't do was lock her up in a room. She was allowed to walk around only inside the building. On a fateful morning, this time around, Bella prepared his meal before he woke up and served him from the bed. "Babe, it has been one week since I forgave you and agreed to stay with you. But still, you haven't given me my phone, nor have you allowed me out of this building," she said, explaining. "I know," he said, "but I don't want to lose you." "You are not going to lose me; I am right beside you," she said, reassuring him. "Promise me you are not going to leave me, or try to run away, or even contact Jay again," he said, holding her hands. He loved the feeling he received from Bella. Whenever he was with her, he felt so happy and never wanted to lose her because he felt that she was the only woman who tolerated him. "I promise I won't," replied Bella. "I trust you," said Conrad, holding her cheek and chuckling. He stood up, opened his drawer, and brought out a new phone, giving it to her. "I'm sorry for the way I smashed your phone the last time. "When I heard you speaking to Jay, I just lost it. "So I bought you a new one," and mind you, this phone is being tracked," he said, looking serious. "It's going to notify me wherever you are and whoever you are talking with, so don't even think of running away or calling Jay behind my back." "And also," he paused and continued, "whenever you are out, my personal guard, Damien, would be your escort." He said, finally concluding his statement. "You said you trusted me, right? Then why all this tracking and Damien being my personal guard? I'm not a child." "I can't afford losing you," so yeah, choose between the two," he said, asking, "Fair enough, right?" "Do I have a choice?" she asked him disappointedly. "No, you don't," he answered. "Sure," she said sadly. He drew her closer to his chest and kissed her on the forehead. "I protect what's mine," he said, whispering in her ear. Damien escorted her wherever she went, and Conrad tracked who she called and talked to. Her life was messed up. She couldn't call Jay as her phone was being tracked and she couldn't run away. So came a fateful night. She prepared dinner not only for Conrad but also for the guards and the gatekeeper. After serving everyone, she set the table for Conrad and went to call him. "Hey babe, dinner is ready," she called out to him in a romantic tone. Seconds later, he came downstairs and kissed her. "Hmmmm, it really smells so good," he said as he started eating. She stood beside him, watching and smiling to herself, nodding her head continuously. "Come join me," he said when he was halfway through eating. "No, I've already eaten". "I made this meal specially for you," she said, continuing to smile mischievously. Immediately he was done eating, he complained of feeling nauseous. Bella encouraged him to go sleep. "Go take a nap; you know you work so hard, so you must be tired from today's work." He went upstairs with the aid of Bella's help, and in no time, he fell asleep. That was her plan from the start; she pretended she was alright living with him after the incident, and hatched a plan to escape from him, she went out to buy some sleeping pills with Damien, Conrad's personal guard, who always escorted her no matter the short distance she was heading to. When Damien asked her what the sleeping pills were for, she replied, "I don't always sleep at night, so these sleeping pills could help me," she replied looking away. She added the pills to their meal and served them all, knowing she had only 45 minutes to escape because the pills would be effective for that duration; anything longer than that, they would all be awake. Immediately Conrad fell asleep, she called Jay because she knew his number by heart. "Hey, Bells," he said as soon as he answered the call. "Are you okay? I have tried calling you so many times, but your phone was switched off." "Jay, Jay," she said, "listen carefully to what I have to say. I want you to come over with your car and wait for me at the gate. I'm escaping from him today." "How?" he asked, confused. "Just do as I said now," she said Immediately and ended the calls. She packed her items, everything that was hers, wrote a letter to him, and kept it beside him. Twenty minutes later, a honk was heard; it was Jay. She ran to the gate, entered the car, and they zoomed off. Bella was now free from his clutch; she breathed easily, and her heart stopped pounding. She had regained her freedom; she felt light again. "Bells, what’s happening?" he asked again. Jay leaned back, concern settling into his features. “Is he hurting you?” “Yeah,” she said quickly, then paused. “Not like that. But I think he's a psychopath." "No, I'm sure he's a psychopath. Do you know he slit my wrists when he heard me speaking to you?"She said as she showed him the injury on her wrist Jay’s jaw tightened, looking surprised. “What do you mean by that?” he said, looking more interested in hearing her out. “Why didn't you reach out to me?” “He watches everything,” Bella continued, her voice low. “My phone. My clothes. Who I spoke with. When I leave a room, he needs to know why.” I felt so trapped." Jay exhaled slowly. “That’s not care, Bells.” She looked up at him, nodding her head in affirmation. “I know.” For a moment, they sat in silence. "You know what? You’re going to stay with me for now, henceforth," he said. "And, Bells, I’m sorry for not being there when you needed me the most." "I was out of the country for a business deal," he apologized, still concentrating on the road. "It’s okay ,it wasn't your fault". "The main point is I am free now," she said, bringing forth her head out of the window and smiling.
