ISABEL'S POV The room was suffocatingly silent again after the mysterious voice stopped speaking. It's been hours and I haven't heard anything else from him. I pressed my ear harder against the wall, hoping to catch another word, another sound—anything to anchor me to the shred of hope that it offered just moments ago. But there was nothing.
