ISABEL'S POV. I stood in the room, still as confused as ever as I stared down at the glowing object in my hand. Elethria’s words kept echoing in my mind. “The key,” she had called it. I turned the object over, shifting it from one palm to another as the glow reflected off my fingers. It didn’t look like a key to me. It didn't look like any key I’d ever seen in my life before. It was more like an oversized coin, except I already knew it was no coin because coins didn't glow. At least I've never seen anyone that did. What could this possibly open? And how had it come out of me? I couldn’t make sense of it. I hadn’t swallowed anything unusual—certainly not a glowing object—so how had it ended up inside me?
