Esmeralda and her mum returned home, and her mum looked around at the small wooden shack that they had lived in for the last 4 years. Esmeralda pulled her mum into a hug. She slid down the wall, holding her tighter as she sobbed. Esmeralda didn't understand why she was crying so much. It was like her first memory in the car. Was her dad killed in the attack? Did her mum still love him? After a while, her mum stopped crying and got up. She stroked her face and just looked at her. "Moonflower, we will need to pack up to move tomorrow." Her voice had such sorrow and defeat to it. Esmeralda just nodded and headed to the only bedroom she could remember. It wasn't much but a small white bed with pink covers. But there were loads of toys, not sure where they come from. Esmeralda climbed into bed and snuggled to her bear. It was the one thung she brought with her. She then realised that it smelt like the wolves that were here today. For the second time, tears fell for someone she never knew, and for her aunty that was killed by them. She sobbed, grabbing her bear as tight as she could. She didn't hear her mum come in. but she felt her arms grip her as they cried together. During the crying, they must have fallen asleep. The light shone through the window a new day had dawned. But usual hope and joy were not there. The pillows and bear were still damp from their tears. The light woke Esmeralda, but she didn't move, she didn't want to wake her mum so she stayed still. Not long after, her mum stroked her hair from her face and kissed her head. It reminded her she still had her mum. "Time for breakfast, moonflower." Mum said, sounded good as Esmeralda's belly rumbled. Her mum let out a little giggle, which made Esmeralda feel good. Even if she was too young to understand. They finally finished breakfast and had started packing when someone knocked at the door. It was the high priestess, Esmeralda knew this was adult talk. Within 10 minutes, Esmeralda was sent out to play. She knew exactly where to go. To her surprise, the children were talking to her this morning. She didn't answer any of them. Mrs Brown was very strict that she had to learn to protect myself. She also needs to protect her mum, She had a feeling something else was going on. She got to the area they had used to practice. Letting all anger out in a ball of fire. It had been the biggest she'd ever done. Aunty would be proud, Esmeralda imagined her standing there telling her how amazing she was. Why did they kill the one person who was helping her? She'd been there hours it felt like when she could hear her mum call her. She ran fast, so if anyone was with her, they would not find her practice area. Strange as her speed was so fast, it shocked her. She wasn't out of breath either like the other witches. What was this? There's so much she doesn't understand about herself. "Hi mum," she said cheery. "Moonflower, have you been practising?" Esmeralda looked at the floor, thinking she was in trouble. "Moonflower,it's good. Keep at it." Esmeralda smiled with a huge amount of happiness as she would get strong to protect them. "Mum, why can I run fast and hear you at my spot?" "You ran and heard me from that far?" Her mum asked, surprised. "Yes, mumma, it usually takes me 30 minutes to get her. Today, I could hear and run super fast." Her mum just stood looking at her. A smile slowly came to her face. "That is brilliant. Your wolf powers have somehow activated. me and your father thought you were just witch." Esmeralda was confused by the fondness she mentioned her father. Esmeralda also noticed that for the first time, her mum's neck was on show. There were 2 white marks like stars, Esmeralda put her fingers on them to trace them. "Your daddy gave me them." Esmeralda was shocked. Is that how he hurt her. "It is what wolves do to tell everyone that you are his sole mate." "Mumma, did you love dad?" She finally asked, still tracing her mark with her fingers. "I did he was my soul mate." Esmeralda was shocked by this news. She was always told his bad. Why would her mum tell her now? Just as they were going to continue talking, Esmeralda heard people coming their way. She knew her questions would have to wait. "The house is packed." It was the high priestess' granddaughter. She was extremely cold when she said it. Esmeralda noticed a purple mark on her near her heart on her chest. It was a circle with 4 points coming off it. Esmeralda remembered it from her teachings it was a witches knot. "Cassandra, is that your soulmate mark?" Esmeralda dared ask. Her mum looked scared at her daughter daring to ask such a personal question. "Yes, it is. Why?" She replied coldly to the child. "Well, I learnt about witches' knot, and I'm confused why it's like that?" She dared to reply. Her mum grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. "Because we are tied together by the strongest knot. Now we need to go, grandmother and grandfather are waiting for you." She replied, Esmeralda looked at her mum. She knew this wasn't good. As Cassandra turned Esmeralda and her mum followed her. As they got closer to their home, Esmeralda's mum gripped her hand tighter. She was nervous, but Esmeralda wasn't sure what about. Esmeralda had forgotten they lived in the biggest house on the covens lands. Because she didn't ever really go near here as Mrs Brown and her mum tried to keep her away from the leaders. But it's OK, she can now protect her mum. "Esmeralda, do not use your powers." It was like her mum knew what she was thinking. Also, why did her mum telepathically tell her? "Promise me, not until you need to protect yourself and run from here." They did not look at each other because she knew her mum wanted this a secret. "Promise!" Her mum said sharply. "OK, mumma, I promise. But if they hurt you." Esmeralda replied. "It doesn't matter, I will explain later. When we're on our own. Even then, keep them a secret. You need to stay the safest." Esmeralda just discreetly nodded her head. She knew she wasn't powerful enough yet to take on the whole coven, but she will be soon. "Ah, here they are. The saviours of our bubble. Esmeralda, how are you today?" The high priestess stood their tall looking down on her. Suddenly, she seemed to hear someone. "Lie to her Alpha princess." She knew no one was there. Who was that? "I'm OK, just miss aunty, that's all." Esmeralda said. It was partly the truth, Esmeralda could be a little too honest. Even with all her maturity and wisdom, she seemed to not realise what the honest could do in a coven like this. "Well done, Alpha princess. I'll speak again soon." Who was that? Why was she calling her Alpha princess? "And you, Morgan?" Her mum looked at the floor. "Esmeralda is here. I can not say in f4ont of her." A single tear slipped down her mother's cheek. Esmeralda knew in her heart there was a time she must have been happy.
