Hatred

As I take my steps toward the stairs, I can see how this place has changed a lot. There weren't these many rooms available on my time. In fact, in my time there were only two rooms for girls and two for boys but now as we can see there are separate floors for girls and boys. There must be many rooms available now. Here I am on the girl's floor. Let me see where I can fit myself. I took my step toward the first room on the floor. I knocked and waited for the in charge of the girl's room to open the door as Head Coach told me to ask In charge which room is available currently. No one opened the door, again I knocked. I waited for a few minutes in front of the door with my luggage. Still no response then I thought maybe I should knock on another room. I went toward the second room. I knocked and tried to put a smile on my face as I want them to accept me. Though I was a little scared, I could still feel the goosebumps on my hands. There was no response, so I knocked again. This time someone opened the door. I smiled cheerfully and uttered "Hey" while waving my hands. A girl wearing track pants and a t-shirt similar to mine opened the door. "What?" She asked in an unwelcoming way. "Can I live with you?" I asked while glaring at the room from the right corner of my eye. "No, I like to stay alone." She spoke rudely and banged the door closing it, right in front of my face. I sighed. And took a few more steps forward to room number third. I knocked and waited. This time the girls opened the door instantly. There were two girls in the room. One with short black hair and one with medium blonde hair. "What do you need?" One with the short hair asked. "I wanted to ask If I could stay with you guys?" I spoke in a lower voice. "Can't you see we are two? So, it's already packed." One with the blonde hair yelled from the inside. I sighed again and the short hair one closed the door by saying "Sorry". Great, they are not even welcoming me. Should I go for room number fourth or should I go back to room number first? "Huh!" I moaned, "Why can't they treat me like others?" I went towards room number fourth. I knocked and they opened. Again there were two girls, one was like 6 feet tall and the one who was short than me. "I am sorry, I was going to ask you, whether I could stay here or not but I can see that you are two, so I cannot stay here" I sighed in disappointment. I was moving from the door but the short one stopped me. "Are you Laura West?" She asked. "Huh," I smiled and looked at her, "Yes, I am." She came close to me in an exciting way, "I was a big fan of you. I have always rooted for you, whenever you played. It's so glad to meet you." I was happy listening to her words. It was a very long time, I haven't heard these types of words. This feeling of someone remembering me was so good. "Oh! by the way, I am Lisa." She introduced herself by intending to shake the hands. I pulled my hand outside and shake my hand with her. I smiled a little. "Hey! What are you doing? Don't you remember that we are forbidden to talk to her?" The girl which was 6 feet tall, came from inside the room and spoke. "I know, but I am a big fan of her," Lisa uttered calmly. "Who forbid you, to talk to me?" I asked awkwardly. I stretched my arm nervously. "I did" I heard a familiar voice from behind. I turned and looked, she was Sam. Sam and I were on the same team, 2 years ago. She, I and Casey shared a room. Sam and I were great friends. Our qualities and thoughts were almost the same. Even our dreams were the same. Our dreams were to get a gold medal. That year we participated in the doubles match and we made it through to the final. But the day before the final match, I and Casey met an accident and because of that, I couldn't participate in the final match. We lost that match and couldn't get the gold medal. Though we got bronze because we were second but it was still not worth it. "How have you been? I didn't expect you to be here." I asked in a lower voice. 2 years ago this place belonged to the blue team where She, I, and Casey were in that team. Now this place belongs to the Dragon team, So I didn't expect her to be here. Sam sighed sarcastically, "I also didn't expect that you will come back after what you did." "Umm..." I couldn't even speak because I knew that I was wrong here. I made a mistake and that's why I never wanted to come back. "How ironic it is? You know there was a time when we were very good friends but now I hate you because of you I couldn't win that match. I couldn't achieve my dream just because of you. I resent you so much." Sam spoke angrily. I could see she was hurt by me. I could see she hate me now but I could also see tears in her eyes. She was holding them back probably. I gasped, listening to her words. It was painful listening to that from her mouth. I never expected the situation will get that worse. "Why are you back now?" She asked again yelling. "Didn't you feel satisfied when you left me there alone in the court or when you left this field without even telling me? Why are you here again? Or do you want to do that same thing again, getting into the finals and again leaving without even notifying any of us? You are such a selfish." She almost cried uttering that. She must have held these words for the past 2 years. I couldn't even tell anything to her about why I had to leave 2 years ago and I don't even want to tell her now. If she knew because of me Casey is no more. She will hate me even more. I tend to keep my mouth shut as long as I can hold it. "I am sorry about what I did to you. And I don't think that I have any great reason to give you. I just am truly sorry for everything I did" I uttered softly while bowing my head down to say sorry. Sam sighed again sarcastically. She was truly hurt by my actions and I can understand her perfectly. "She is the in-charge of the girls' room. She also lives in the first room." Lisa interrupted as the conversation between me and Sam started to get heated up. "With whom would I live?" I asked Sam softly as I knew that If I stay here for a bit more, I will surely start to cry. "We have two rooms available now, the first one and the second one," Lisa replied. Sam scowls angrily at Lisa. Lisa saw Sam and started to look at the ground in a scared way. "The girl living in room number second told me that she wants to live alone," I uttered. "Then, Can I live with you?" I asked Sam. "I don't prefer to share a room," Sam replied rudely. "Then, Where she will live?" Lisa asked heading up her head at Sam in a worrying way. "We still have one room available that is the fifth room. She can live there." Sam replied looking at me. "But that room is the store room we made. We put extra baggage there. That place must be full of dust now." Lisa uttered again. Sam scowls again at Lisa. The one living with Lisa in the same room with 6 feet tall. She slightly squeezes Lisa in her hand indicating to shut her mouth. "It's fine, I can adjust myself there," I uttered to Lisa. I saw Sam grinning lightly. I turned and started to walk towards the fifth room. The room was already open. I entered the room. The room was filled with useless things, cracked furniture, torn sofa, torn mattress, and many spiders' webs. I put my luggage outside the room. Lisa offered me help but I told her I can do that alone. Lisa is only the one, right now who is helpful. She gave me detergents, some used clothes, and some cleaners to clean the room. I quickly grabbed my hair up and wrapped them into a bun. I started to clean the room. I quickly took out the furniture, one by one, outside of the room. Then arranged the places for the things I have to keep. By the use of a mop, I cleaned the floor. By the use of a Cleaner, I cleaned the bathroom. The whole thing started from cleaning, to the last, arranging my clothes, it took 3 hours to complete the cleaning. I was so tired that I quickly pass off the bed and remove the shoes while laying on the bed. I grabbed the mattress and tucked myself in. Next Morning "Oh s**t! I am late for the training." I shouted as soon as I saw the alarm clock ringing. I was late for the training. I realized that I shut down the alarm clock the past few times. I rushed toward the washroom and took a shower while brushing my teeth. It was late half an hour. But I was trying to do things quickly. Even my phone went off because I didn't charge it yesterday. "Coach Martin must have been trying my phone," I mumbled in panic while caressing my hair. I quickly took my jacket and run downstairs through the court. As I was rushing toward the court. I saw many players standing in a line in front of the Head coach and a junior Coach. I opened the see-through door, "Sorry... Sorry, I was late." I uttered while entering. "The first day of joining and you are late. Great!" Head Coach spoke in anger. I slightly bowed my head, looking at the floor, "I am sorry" I uttered. "Go run 30 laps of the ground as your punishment." Junior Coach spoke. "3-30" I stammered in panic while looking at Head Coach. "Do you want to do 50?" Junior Coach asks. "She should run 100 laps," Sam spoke while sighing. I watched her, she was standing in the first line. I could see hatred in her eyes for me when she said that. "Or maybe, She should run for a lifetime." I heard a voice from the first line. It was a familiar voice. I know whose voice is this. How I could even forget this deep husky voice. I glared at him. He was standing at the last in the front line. He was Ryan Garcia, Casey's ex-boyfriend. He was 6 feet tall, straight cut jaw, dark brown hair, a little beard, and a handsome face. He is the one, I am more scared off. He resents me for Casey's death. He should be because her death was related to me. There was a time when he and I were great friends. I met him because of Casey as she was in love with him. We started to meet more times. We three started to hang out together. There was a great bond between the three of us but it shattered just because of me. Why did I urge her to come with me that night? I should have left alone. Then might be the thing that happened to her, would have happened to me. The mistake I made, was huge. Nothing can be compared to that but a little punishment that I got was worth it. I stared at my right leg. "20 laps are fine" The Head Coach interrupted. I looked at the Head Coach in relief. "Captian! You will be checking on her when she will run" The Head Coach spoke to Ryan. I remember, Coach Martin told me that Ryan is the Captain of the Dragon Team. I saw Ryan, he scowled at me. I could see anger in his eyes. The rage burning up in his eyes. The hatred towards me was enough to resent me for a lifetime. If the looks can kill a person then surely he would have killed me many times. To be continued...
