The Golden statue's curse.

510 Words
As the team returned to civilization, they began to study the golden statue further. They took it to a local expert, who revealed that the statue was much more than just a decorative piece. It was an ancient artifact imbued with dark and malevolent energy. The expert warned the team that the statue was said to be cursed, and that those who possessed it would be haunted by malevolent spirits. The team laughed it off, thinking it was just an old wives' tale. But as they continued to study the statue, strange things began to happen. Equipment would malfunction, and strange noises could be heard coming from the statue at night. At first, the team thought it was just their imagination, but soon, they started to experience terrifying hallucinations. One night, Sophia woke up to find a dark figure standing in her room, staring at her. She screamed, and the figure vanished. But as she looked around, she saw that the room was filled with an eerie, otherworldly glow. The team soon realized that the statue was indeed cursed, and that they had unleashed a malevolent force into their lives. They tried to get rid of the statue, but it seemed to be exerting some kind of dark influence over them, making them unable to part with it. As the days went by, the team's behavior became more and more erratic. They started to turn on each other, and the group's dynamics began to deteriorate. It was as if the statue was manipulating them, playing on their deepest fears and insecurities. One night, the team gathered around the statue, and they saw that it had changed. The markings on the statue seemed to be pulsing with an otherworldly energy, and the team's reflections seemed to be distorted in the golden surface. Suddenly, the statue began to glow with an intense, malevolent light. The team felt themselves being drawn into the light, as if they were being pulled into some kind of dark dimension. The team's screams were drowned out by the sound of the statue's malevolent energy, and everything went black. When the team came to, they found themselves back in the lost city, standing in front of the entrance. But something was different. The city seemed to be changed, and the team's memories were hazy. "What happened?" Sophia asked, looking around at her teammates. "How did we get back here?" The team looked at each other, confused and disoriented. They knew that they had to get out of the city, but as they turned to leave, they saw that the entrance was blocked by a massive stone door. The door slid open, revealing a dark and ominous figure standing on the other side. "Welcome back," the figure said, its voice dripping with malevolence. "You've been chosen to play a game. A game of survival. And the prize is your souls." The team's eyes widened in horror as they realized that they were trapped in the lost city, and that the golden statue's curse had only just begun to manifest.
