Chase’s POV.
I arrive at the hospital and find where my soon to be ex-wife is. The nurses all look up at me, some even tug on their scrub tops but I ignore them and head to where Ruby is.
I open the door and there she is. Her face is swollen and large purple bruises have formed. She is on an IV, and she is currently sleeping.
I sigh and sit in the chair beside her bed. When Ruby is asleep, she looks innocent but I know she is anything but. Then, I think back to the day she lost our child.
The pain in her eyes, I remember her sobbing as they started the labour process. I held her hand, not knowing what else to do. I tried to tell her she would be ok. But I knew she wouldn’t be, not mentally at least.
