Chapter 5

I walked into my home to see my brother and Uncle waiting for me.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Well, he is a little odd." Josh immediately started with a little laugh added to that.

"A little; he is very kind. Why didn't mom prepare me for a mate? “I asked while turning my head to stare at my uncle.

"Honestly sweetie with our lifestyle and career, we usually don't find our mates. We preferred to find partners that fit into our careers. “He responded but you can see he felt bad about that statement, but honestly he might be right.

"But wait, does that mean mom and dad are not mates?" -Kyra-

My uncle looked at my brother like they were having a conversation with their mind link. "Hello? What is it?" My anger came creeping through.

"Sis it's really a long story, but no Mom and Dad were not mates. They did have mates though at one point. Both moms and Dad's mates are dead." Josh said. I was so shocked at this I froze not knowing how to process all this. I really believed that my mom and dad were ultimate mates together. I will tell my uncle who did not even look back at me like he really didn't want me to know.

"Do you know how they died?" I asked hesitantly not knowing if I really want to know the answer.

"Sort of. Your mother was murdered by I don't know who and my brother's died in battle." My uncle said finally deciding to speak up. "I honestly think your mom wanted to prepare you for your mate because of her experience especially since you will be in the war coming soon."

I didn't know what to say once again. I definitely didn't expect all this. This was a lot to take in especially with everything that's been happening today. All I could do was to say "Good night." and walk to my room. Once I close my door I pressed my back against it and slid to the floor grouping my knees. Sitting there for a couple of minutes I began to think about everything that's been happening. First, the dead deer, then my mate showing up first coming off cold then extremely caring, and then out of nowhere getting attacked not just attacked but even bated, and now find out my parents weren't even mates which definitely took me by surprise. I remember growing up how much they seem to care about each other. This reminds me of this time when we are all out to eat at a restaurant. We were getting ready to leave when this guy came up to us while grabbed Mom's arm. My dad without even blinking grab the guy by his throat and threatened him to ever come near us again his life will be taken. Shoot I think I was 10 when that happened. I miss them so much, I really wish Mom was here so I could talk to her.

"Kyra, when will we see Michael again? I really want to see my mate Leon." -Lilly-

"Leon? Is that his wolf's name."-Kyra-

"Yes, he is so stunning. With all this going on he could be a real comfort to us right now."-Lilly-

"We will see them tomorrow morning I promise. Just rest it will be before you know it."-Kyra-

"Okay but you need to go to sleep yourself we got breaking bones training tomorrow." -Lilly-

I didn't reply because I knew she was right. So I stood up to grab my pajamas to head to the shower. After a good long shower, I got all ready for bed and felt so relaxed. When I lay on my bed and threw the covers over me my phone dinged. So I rolled over to reach for my phone. Very surprised to see it was a text so I rolled onto my back to open the message. Michael text me

-Little Wolf it's Michael. I hope you’re okay. I know I probably put too much pressure on you today than the attack that's happened.-

I stared at the message for a minute debating to reply or not. Screw it -Ask me tomorrow I'm completely drained from the day. Night.-

I laid my phone on my chest thinking about how kind he was to me today. Butterflies began forming in my stomach in excitement. He was genuinely concerned for me. 'Ding' I look back at my phone-okay Little Wolf good night.-

I smelled from the text and rolled back over to lay my phone back onto my nightstand while turning off my lamp.

Right when I close my eyes my brother linked me.

"Good night sister I am sorry that everything piled on to you today." -Josh-

"Good night brother thank you for telling me the truth."-Kyra-

-------Josh POV-------

I was laying in my bed when I mind linked Kyra. I turn my head to look at Mom and Dad's picture that was on my desk. All I can think was I should have told her the whole truth. But I can't, especially since I vowed to keep the secret to the general and my uncle. I really wish I never made that vow I hate lying to my sister. I began to contemplate if I should my linker again.

"Josh I am sorry. I know it's probably eating you up inside not telling your sister the truth"-John-

"Why is it such a big deal if she doesn't know? What do you guys think she's going to do?" -Josh-

"It's complicated Josh. You know almost every single detail to what happened but there is more to know but it's not our secret to tell."-John-

"Whose secret would it be to tell? Going to be mom or dad they're dead."-Josh-

"Josh get some sleep this is an issue for another day good night."-John-

Feeling a little more annoyed by all of this but honestly, I need to get some sleep I got to get early and head to the headquarters.

---------Kyra--------------

"Ding! Ding! Ding!" I began to hear when I started to wake up. I sat up on the edge of my bed to turn my alarm off. I stretched out and stood up to stretch the rest of my body. Went and brushed my teeth then my hair to put up into a high ponytail. Walked back to my room to get dressed, I grabbed my black running shorts then a dark green shirt with a black sports bra. I then grabbed my socks and running shoes and slid them all on. I ran downstairs into the kitchen to grab an apple. Beginning to eat the Apple while walking to the front door I saw Uncle to the side window getting into his car to head to the headquarters with my brother. Once I got outside I was surprised to see Michael waiting outside on the sidewalk stretching.

I smiled on the big then said "How...How did you know I run every morning."

You said you trained. So I assumed you ran every morning. May I run with you today beautiful?" -Michael-

"Only if you can keep up" -Kyra-

I chuckled again, I practically lost my breath when he chuckled my body desired him so much I honestly wish I could just run up and jump on him to kiss him but thinking about what my uncle said maybe I should keep him at arm's length.

"Well, that sounds like a challenge. GO!" Michael said while running down the street. So I began to run fast to catch up to him. We actually ran for about 20 minutes before we got back to my front door. He playfully tackled me to the ground. We will laugh for a minute before we stop to look at each other which slightly took my breath away again.

"You are impressively fast."-Michael-

"Same to you for you being such a masculine man that all that muscle would slow you down."-Kyra-

"Really? Masculine huh? Do you like my muscles?" He said well flexing his muscles at me with a little bit of laughter which made me laugh even harder. I lift my hand up to check the time it was already 7:30 a.m. I instantly jumped onto my feet and said "I got to go get ready. I have to change and head to headquarters for training."

"Already? Don't you have school today?"-Michael-

"Yes, I do have school at 10:00 but I also have to train for about 2 hours in the morning before school. But if you want to go change and meet me at the headquarters gym in 20 minutes."-Kyra-

My mate slightly smiled while saying "Sounds good I'll see you there."

I proceed to walk inside my house, when I turned around I noticed some still watching me. I wonder if you truly like me or if there are other motives behind this. Oh Kyra I need to stop I keep overthinking everything I thought to myself.

Twenty minutes went by and I was pulling into the headquarters parking lot. Beginning to pull into my parking spot I noticed Michael's car was already here right next to my spot. I looked around to see if he was nearby but there was no sign of anyone around. I then grab my duffel bag from the passenger seat and got out of my vehicle. When walking to the gym which was on the right side of the main building I looked up at the General’s window of his office to see him staring at me. He waved at me for the good morning then I look back forward walking into the gym. I instantly smelled him but all I could do is stare at him seeing his workout shorts gripping his legs then his several rippled ABS on the stomach. I was very astonished to see him benching 500 pounds like it was nothing. I slowly approached him when he placed the bar back on the rack and sat up to look at me.

"Hello, gorgeous."-Michael-

"Hello handsome."-Kyra-

I smiled at him which he had an extremely surprised look on his face that I called him handsome. But before he can respond to me I walked away towards my trainer which he was already for me waiting.

"Good morning Kyra are you ready?" -Parker-

"Good morning Parker. Of course, I'm ready I think today should be fairly easy."-Kyra-

I turned around to place my bag down on the ground and look over at my mate he was still staring at me. I actually believe he was very curious about what my training is like. Wanting to impress him when Parker began to break my bones I wanted to show him pain really didn't affect me all that much. 'SNAP!' Parker began breaking my arms which stung but really didn't cripple me. Once I looked over at Michael his expression was more worrisome than impressed. My face went from smiling to a straight face within a second realizing maybe he's not impressed by this then before you knew it Parker broke my femur bone. I then looked out of my leg to snap it back into place for it to heal by the time I look back up I noticed Michael was already gone nowhere in sight in the gym. I instantly felt sad and conflicted with what he was feeling.

"Kyra, are you good to continue?" Parker asked which snapped me out of my brain thought.

"Of course. Continue." I said puzzled that Michael left without even saying anything. So we continued our training as normal.
