After moving in to my apartment and being settled for a few weeks one of the neighbors started approaching me. He was cute and sweet. He seemed a little bit older than I was, but I preferred older guys. He started walking me from the mailboxes to my door or chatting with me in the laundry room while I waited on my clothes to dry. We exchanged phone numbers and started texting each other a lot. He'd asked me to come watch his friends play at a local bar one night. I guess they were in a local band, but I'd never heard of them. I ended up having to work late and the next time he asked I had already agreed to watch Samantha for my brother. I felt bad that I kept turning him down. He probably thinks I'm just avoiding going on a date with him or that I'm going to ghost him eventually. One night I decided to be brave and just text him inviting him for dinner. He immediately agreed which made me laugh because I hadn't even asked him what night worked best for him.
"Hey I'm sorry if it seems like I don't want to hang out. I promise I do. Instead of going out what if I just made dinner for you one night at my place?"
"That sounds great I'll be there at 6!"
"Lol I didn't even tell you what day?"
"Oh right haha it doesn't matter I'll be there whatever day you want me to at 6... ;)"
"Haha okay how about tomorrow then?"
"Sounds good to me! I'll be there."
The whole next day I was a nervous wreck. I didn't know what to cook for him I should've asked him what he likes to eat. I wandered the grocery aisles for what seemed like hours trying to figure out what would be good. I need something nice but not too fancy I don't want him thinking I'm thinking this is more than it is. I also don't want something too casual either. That reminds me of clothes. Do I go for nice or casual? On one hand it's our first date. On the other is just at my house. Ugh!
After a lot of debate and some help from Pinterest I ended up with bbq grilled chicken breast, potatoes and green beans. I also managed to pick my outfit and decided on a pair of my favorite skinny jeans, a long sleeve black tunic top and painted my toes because I didn't want to wear shoes in my house. I decided to start early and shower that morning drying and straightening my hair. I went ahead and applied light makeup with a little bit of mascara and then put my outfit on around 4:30. I figured I might need to start getting my food prepped early so I was planning on starting it at 5 but around 4:45 there was a knock at my door.
