However, I quickly gathered myself, blaming the mate bond for toying with my emotions. “Thank you.” I said softly, not daring to raise my head to see what expression the Lycan King had on. He grunted in reply before walking away without saying another word. I stood there, staring at his back intently. The Lycan King was not obliged to help me regardless of whether we were mates or not, but he still did.
