Ten Steve Gordon started his working week riding the elevator up to the eighteenth floor of the Harvey Building with Maria Mahoney, the lawyer that looked after his labour hire contracts. Steve hated elevators. They were either full of people with body odour issues or reeked of the stale smells left behind by previous riders. The fact that he was a little claustrophobic didn’t help either. At least this one was an express to the tenth floor and Maria, aware of how uncomfortable elevators made him, knew it was not a good time to discuss last minute details.
