Chapter 14: "Prom Night"

1644 Words
Prom night had finally arrived. I stand in front of the mirror in my dark blue dress that I picked out a few days ago, and I can't believe this day has come. My heart beats faster with excitement and anticipation. The hall has a festive atmosphere: music, laughter, and bright lights. I walk into the room on David's arm, and all eyes are on us. I feel like the queen of this evening-confident, beautiful and happy. David whispers in my ear. — You're absolutely dazzling today." All men will be jealous of me. I smile and answer. — And I'll envy myself for having such a beautiful date." We take our seats, and soon the official part of the evening begins. The director gives a speech and presents diplomas. I find myself thinking that so much has been experienced within these walls, both good and bad. Memories of the conflict with Harris, of the breakup with Sarah, of intimate moments with David… All this seems far away now, but at the same time so close. After the official part, the most fun part of the evening begins — dancing and free communication. I feel the tension go away, and I relax more and more in the holiday atmosphere. David asks me to dance. We're waltzing around, and I feel weightless. His hands are holding me tightly, and his eyes are full of tenderness and love. "You know," David says, looking me in the eye, " I've never felt happier than when I was around you. — Me, too, " I say, snuggling closer to him. — This evening seems to draw a line under the past and open the door to our future. As I dance, I catch people looking at me — some with envy, some with curiosity. But I don't care. Right now, it's just me and David, this dance and our feelings. Later, when the music becomes more enticing, I suggest that David take a quiet corner. His eyes darken instantly, and I can see the desire in them. — Do you know what you're doing to me?" he whispers, pressing me against the wall. — What is it?" I reply with a small smile. — You make my heart beat faster and get lost in thoughts of you, " he says, leaning close to my ear. His breath burns me, and I feel goosebumps run up my spine. At this point, I realize that no words are needed — our feelings speak for themselves. The evening drags on slowly, as if unwilling to end. But when the clock strikes midnight, I realize that graduation is coming to an end. David and I leave the hall holding hands and look to the future with hope and love in our hearts. I know that there are new challenges ahead, but now I'm sure that together we can overcome everything. After all, I have David — a man who has become everything to me. Prom night will always remain in my memory as a boundary between the past and the future, between pain and happiness, between doubts and confidence. And I am grateful for this evening and for the person who stands next to me. The days after graduation seem like a magical dream to me. Everything around us seems to be saturated with joy and hope for a bright future. But I know that the most important event is still ahead. David and I spend a lot of time together, walking around Oxford, enjoying every moment. But more and more often I notice something special in his eyes, as if he wants to tell me something very important. One evening, David invites me for a walk to the riverbank. The sun is already setting, and the sky is turning warm orange and pink. We walk hand in hand, and the air is filled with anticipation of something meaningful. When we stop at the edge of the river, David turns to me and looks me straight in the eye. "Emily, you're the most precious thing I've ever had in my life. You make me feel like a real man, capable of great things. I freeze, my heart starting to beat faster. He sounds so serious and sincere that it takes my breath away. "I can't imagine my future without you," David continues. — You have become everything for me: support, inspiration, love. He drops to one knee and a small box appears in his hand. When I open it, I see a ring — elegant, with a small diamond. "Emily, will you be my wife?" David asks, looking at me with hope and love. At this moment, the world around us seems to freeze. I can feel tears of happiness filling my eyes. All doubts and fears recede, leaving room for only one feeling — boundless love for this person. "Yes," I whisper, fighting back tears. "Yes, I agree. David puts the ring on my finger and pulls me to him. Our lips meet in a soft but passionate kiss. At this moment, I realize that I have found my happiness, my destiny. We stand by the river, holding hands, and watch the sunset. There is peace in the soul and confidence that only good things are waiting for us ahead. Later, when we get home, David takes my hand and says: "Now we will build our lives together. I promise you a happy future, a cup full of love and understanding. I snuggle up to him and answer. — I believe you. Together, we can do anything. On this night, we plunge into the world of passion and tenderness, confirming our feelings in an intimate embrace. I feel like the happiest woman in the world, because I have someone who loves me so much and sincerely. From this day forward, everything changes. I'm starting to see the world in a new way — through the prism of love and hope for a happy future with David. Although there are new challenges ahead, I know that we can overcome them together. After all, we are one now. After David proposed to me, it was like my life was divided into before and after. I feel really happy and ready for new achievements. Now David and I are a team, and we have an amazing journey ahead of us called "living together". We spend our days discussing our future: where we will live, how we will arrange our home, what plans we will set for ourselves. These conversations fill me with warmth and confidence that everything will be fine. One evening, sitting on the couch with his arms wrapped around each other, David says: — We need to decide where we want to live after the wedding. Should we stay in Oxford or go somewhere else? I stare out the window thoughtfully. - On the one hand, Oxford has become a place of trials and victories for me. This is where I met you, but there was also a lot of pain and frustration. On the other hand, here are my roots, my memories... David kisses my temple gently. — We can choose any corner of the world where you will be happy. My main wish is to see a smile on your face every day. I snuggle closer to him. — Then let's choose a place where we can be happy together." It doesn't matter if it's in Oxford or somewhere else. The main thing is that we will be close. He looks me in the eye and says seriously: — You're right. Our happiness lies in being together. And the place is just a backdrop for our love. Our conversations move smoothly from future plans to more intimate topics. David whispers in my ear. — You know, when I think about our future, I imagine not only cozy evenings and walks hand in hand... His voice lowers, and I feel goosebumps run down my spine. — What do you mean?" I ask, holding my breath. — I imagine our nights filled with passion and tenderness. Our bedroom, where every corner will remind you of our feelings... I give him a look full of desire. — And I dream about it, too." About how we will build our happiness together, step by step. In these moments, I feel like the most desirable and beloved woman in the world. David looks at me as if I'm his only universe, and I can see my love and devotion reflected in his eyes. We continue to make plans: we choose the date of the wedding, discuss who to invite, how to decorate the venue of the celebration. Every conversation with David fills me with new strength and confidence in our bright future. But sometimes the shadows of the past still come up in my mind: memories of the conflict with Harris, of the breakup with Sarah. I share these thoughts with David: "Sometimes I think the past still haunts me. These memories… they're like scars that will never fully heal. David puts his arm around me and says, " I'm sorry. — Your scars are part of you, but they don't define you. You are a strong, brave and incredibly beautiful woman who deserves to be happy. And I'll be there to help you forget the pain of the past. His words soothe me, and I realize that with David by my side, I can truly put all my fears and doubts behind me. Together we will build a new life in which there will be only a place for love, happiness and tenderness. Every day I am more and more convinced of the correctness of my choice. David is my path to happiness, my support and my love. And I'm ready to go hand in hand with him for the rest of my life.
