Chapter 4
"I will come to the window and wave if the feeding was successful. It should be, Lynna, the vamp's chef has always been good at fixing and setting the feeders. The second key hole just made sure that the water here keeps flowing. Vampire's don't NEED food and water, it's like junk food to them, so they don't really think about it." He said matter of factly.
"What if you don't wave? What if you are busy with other things?" I ask.
"Oh. The green light above my window also turns on. I just thought it'd be nice to actually have a reason to go to the window everyday since we kind of have to be friends now." He was right. "Also, before you start locking everyone down for the night, call me to make sure everyone from both houses are home."
I gave a puzzled look, "How? Cellphones basically don't exist anymore."
He stops just before the doors and digs into his pocket and hands me an old Android.
"It works. Actually, the electricity to all of our properties work too."
"No they don't. Sara's house doesn't have electricity and neither does the corner store." I say as I take it from him. He frowns. "That town... that property was shut off because Sara was supposed to move in today. Give me a second..." He pulls out another phone and pushes photo and starts speaking. "Turn on Property 3 now." He pauses. "I know, I know." Pausing again. "Do it. Because Prince Ethan commands it...." He hangs up and puts the phone back in his pocket. "I have to go in and get a few things. While we're here...you can meet my...wife."
Just then the door to the elementary school opens and out comes a very beautiful, very pregnant woman.
"Dominic, you didn't say there would be a guest."
His mate, wife, stood there. A smile on her face, a child no more than 2 on her hip, bronze and tall, looking like she should be on a magazine cover rather than here.
"I didn't know she'd get the job honestly and so soon. We will need to ready a pup for her security detail, not tonight though. It's too late in the day for that. I'm going to her place tonight and probably most nights until her pup is ready. She's going to need it." He said to her.
She raised an eyebrow and looked at me then back at him.
"Does she have a name?"
"Sorry, my name is Tansi." I reached out to shake her hand before noticing that she had nothing to shake with as her hands were both busy. I retracted it, embarrassed.
