Chapter 5: Desperate
Anya woke up to a quiet house and groaned. Were her parents ever coming home? She decided to call her mom, which was something she never did. She pulled out her cell phone, and then remembered that her mom preferred her to use the home phone to call her, which was something she never understood. She dialed her mom and waited for her to pick up.
“Hello?” Anya almost burst into tears at the sound of her mother’s voice on the phone.
“Mom? When are you coming home?” Anya asked
“We just made it to our first layover. We should be home by ten tonight. Are you okay? Is something going on?” Her mom sounded worried.
