Chapter 9: Finding a Secret
“Police! Open up!” Officer Williams shouted at the closed door. Jaxon stood behind him, both were outfitted in bulletproof vests, as were the other three officers that accompanied them. After banging on the door again, Officer Williams issued a verbal warning, and then kicked the door down.
They were greeted by an empty house. It looked like someone moved out in the middle of the night. There was newspaper strewn everywhere, dishes were left in the sink, and drawers and cabinets were only half emptied. Most of the furniture was gone, but some of the minor pieces were left behind.
