‘What happens if the plan fails'
‘Well, there's always plan B'
‘Don't do you dare do what I'm thinking your plan B is. You'll die'
‘It will happen eventually'
In the face of unhinged beasts, Eric's mind went back to a few days earlier before the commencement of their mission to rescue Lady Gabrielle. Eric's inability to unlock his bear abilities had been killing him slowly and had also been preventing him from using his wolf abilities to it's fullest capacity. He had become weaker over time but still managed to keep it a secret from his pack excluding Braeden. He had promised Braeden he would minimize the use of his powers throughout the mission but in his current situation, he needed every ounce of it.
Outside the bunker, the hunters had rounded up every member of Eric's pack. They knew beforehand about the supernatural plans thanks to Jack; Brian and Mitchell's classmate. Jack was a hunter under the disguise of a student positioned in Lockswood to keep an eye on Brain and his family. After Eric and his pack went off the grid, the hunters knew he was nearing his end. After all, they gave him his ailment to begin with. After Eric showed up in Lockswood, it was only a matter of time before the brothers came to rescue their mother. Everything that has happened since then had gone according to their plans or so they thought.
The camera feed into Lady Gabrielle's cell and the whole bunker was cut off for a few minutes which was enough for the plan to succeed. The hunters' guns and bows came undone. The supernaturals walked free and rounded up the hunters. Eric walked out unscathed with his mom, Dr Alfred and the relased prisoners. There was no need for ‘plan B' after all.
‘How?' ‘Where did we go wrong?' Nelson Smith asked perplexedly.
‘It's all thanks to them' pointing to the hunters guarding the bunkers ‘and Mitchell' Eric replied.
After finding out about Liza, Mitchell did background checks on everyone in his class and he found a rather amusing information about a Jack who had most of his information redacted. Digging deeper, he found a connection between Jack and the Smiths. That information proved to be crucial enough to determine the winner between both sides enriching Eric's plan.
Eric's initial plan started six months prior to the D-day. After his pack was attacked by hunters killing off a lot of his betas, Eric went into hiding with what was left. Thinking they had won a battle, the hunters didn't detect they had started something much bigger. Eric's pack wasn't just a constitution of wolves. The Shape-shifters, one of the minority supernaturals that made up the alliance seventeen years ago found solace in Eric's pack.
During the attack, six of the shifters shifted into the hunters, infiltrating their ranks. The first step to confirming the rumors of the existence of Lady Gabrielle.
The shifters were a clan full of misfits. Most of them used their abilities to morph into anybody they came in contact with perfectly enough to fool a dog's nose to steal and scam earning them the title “Slum of The Alliance". The slum was a place no other supernatural wants to visit. But for a great form of defense, there was a cost. Whenever a shifter shifts, not only do they morph in appearance, they also steal about 75% of data about the person they come in contact with. The more a shifter shifts, the more personalities he/she exhibits. Eventually, they lose their own personality. Their mind suffers the consequences of their shifts. In summary, they have a limited amount of shifts and intervals for their own safety.
Ever since the alliance lost to the hunters, many of these beings wandered restlessly without a sense of purpose till Eric became Alpha. Just like his father, he accepted them without prejudice and with a vow to restore the alliance, the shifters dedicated themselves to the cause.
Soon after infiltrating the bunker, they shifters multiplied in number replacing almost all the hunters guarding the site confirming Lady Gabrielle's status. The foundation for Eric's plan was laid. By the time the D-day came around, more than half of the hunters were shifters.
A war without bloodshed is no war. Eric and his pack had the battle going in their favour till Dheja Smith arrived with reinforcement. Dheja Smith; the man behind the destruction of the alliance known as wicked eye was the threat Eric had been preparing Brian for.
“I see you are a threat as ever even though you are about to drop dead" Wicked eye's exposure of Eric's secret raised a lot of questions among his pack. Wicked eye's psychological attack was taking effect. Eric was supposed to be their ticket out at the possibility of their plan failing. Eric was plan B.
