55 The next morning, Jack found himself surprisingly pleased to have been called into the Chief Constable’s office for a meeting with Hawes and Penny Andrews, the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner. It was an event he’d usually have dreaded, but not now. The atmosphere in the team had been sour ever since word had got out about Frank’s arrest and everything that had gone before it. There was a horrible air of not knowing who to trust, and whether the rot had gone any further.
