Chapter 30 – No Turning Back
(Evelyne’s POV)
The warehouse smelled like blood and exhaustion.
Evelyne pressed a damp cloth against Adrian’s side, her hands stained red from the bullet wound that refused to stop bleeding.
He hissed in pain, but he didn’t pull away.
He was too weak for that now.
Too pale.
Too still.
And that scared the hell out of her.
“We need a doctor,” she muttered, pressing harder.
Adrian let out a weak chuckle. “Doctors ask questions.”
Evelyne clenched her jaw. “I don’t care.”
He smirked. “Liar.”
Evelyne’s grip tightened.
She should be angry at him.
At how reckless he was.
At how he always acted like he could take everything alone.
But right now?
Right now, she just wanted him to stay awake.
