The air inside the tunnel was thick and suffocating.
Evelyne pressed a hand against the damp stone wall, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
They had made it out—but barely.
Behind them, alarms still blared from the Carter Estate.
Footsteps pounded above, voices shouting orders, searching for them.
They were being hunted.
And the only thing standing between them and death was this tunnel.
Beside her, Adrian stumbled, his body weighed down by pain and exhaustion.
Blood seeped through his bandages, his breath uneven.
But still—he kept moving.
Because stopping now?
Stopping meant death.
Evelyne gritted her teeth, tightening her grip on the ledger.
They had won the battle.
