In his past life, when Raizel was three years old, he lost his mother from a beast wave attack. His father distanced himself from everything due to the grief and sorrow of losing his wife, leaving his son to tend for himself. Without proper guidance, Raizel struggled in growing up as a lonely child. He was a sickly child thus affecting his soul core. Despite being of noble blood, whatever they owned was located at the border of the beast glades thus putting them under constant threat of attack from the beasts. As lord Kain continued to drown himself in wine, their land was left almost defenceless without the leader. people started leaving one by one and soon, the manor was left empty except for two souls, the drunk lord and his weak son. The Dragunov family declined to nothingness and after a couple of years, lord Kain perished. Orphaned at the age of eighteen, Raizel had nowhere left to go. Because of his weak soul core and poverty, his relatives, both near and distant, all closed their doors on him. After a while, he took to the streets.
The harsh street life taught a hard lesson to Raizel. Only the strong survive. His heart turned to stone as he started cultivating like a madman. With sheer luck, a kind passerby saw his determination and enrolled him to a school. shutting his life away from the outside world and its pleasures, Raizel studied and cultivated at the same time. soon he rose to the rank of teacher. At the age of thirty-five, he became one of the three generals of Dristan city force, a place someone like him could never reach. This was only so because the era he now lived in was not normal.
It was an era of chaos after the war had broken out in every part of the world after Zavator killed the guardians and obtained the crown of power. Countless people had lost their lives to his dark forces. In that time, it was hard to find someone brave enough to lead soldier into what would most likely be a horrible death, so without much choice, he was chosen as he had a higher level of knowledge than others after most of the better choices of people had escaped for their lives.
Leading a troop of no more than a hundred soldiers, Raizel used strategies and shrewdness to trap and kill his enemies. But the dark forces outnumbered them by a large number and soon, he watched as his soldiers fall one by one until he was the only one left in Dristan city.
with no mana left in his soul core, his body on the of collapsing from exhaustion, Raizel steadied himself from falling and he called upon his bloody soul weapon as he prepared to make what could possibly be the last stand for humanity. as his enemies drew closer, Raizel saw his life flash past him. he pitied himself and the way he grew. after all that struggle, he was still going to die without having accomplished much in his life. It was pathetic as he didn't even know what love was.
BOOM!
A bright light fell from the dark sky creating a huge crater in its wake. Blinking his furiously from the cloud of dust brought whatever the hell fell from the sky, Raizel slowly made his way to the edge of the crater. A chill breeze pushed back his long hair from his face as a glowing from stepped into his sight. it was a tall white-cloaked woman of sorts, not carrying any illuminating object but glowing like sunlight was trapped in her and seeping through her pores. She emanated an aura that would make even the most powerful mages in Elonaria faint and froth in the mouth, yet it seemed not to harm him but rather embrace him.
" do not fear me, mortal, for I have come to your aid." Her voice echoed through the silent city.
This is odd. why is there no sound when a minute ago all I could hear was devilish cries but now, everything is silent. Raizel wondered. Looking around, he found to his astonishment the dark ones, no everything seemed to be frozen in place and the entire world had turned into a grey colour.
"How is this possible? how did you do that? who are you?" he jabbered nonstop.
" I go by many names. some know me as the great Tempus, while others call me Time!" letting that sink into his brain she continued, " what Zavator has done is disastrous and since he obtained the crown of power, he became unstoppable. With it, he finds and dominates the true sources of power puts them under his command. if he dominates me, what he could with all the power he has gathered will be unfathomable. I have journeyed far and wide in search of one worthy enough to wield me, and my search has brought me to you, should you choose to be my guardian."
" But what does that have to do with me. As far as I know, a guy like me is probably not going to last the day." Raizel replied," Besides, you just said that he has several other power sources under him, let alone that crown, so am not sure what we could to him".
"But you are wrong," she whispered in his ear," you have something that is rare in men but strongest in you. besides with me by your side, you can do anything."
as she started floating in front of him, her form began to change in bright light. in a moment's flash, she had turned into a giant golden hourglass.
" CHOOSE NOW MORTAL. DO YOU ACCEPT TO BECOME MY GUARDIAN!" time hourglass boomed across the still city.
Raizel never in his life dreamed of becoming a guardian. He always heard from stories and read from books of the most powerful figures in the world, the guardians. Now that time itself has come to acknowledge him, it seemed like his ears were playing tricks on him and it was probably because there was almost no human left. Still, he couldn't let this opportunity slip away as he would die soon if he didn't.
"YES!" he thundered in return.
" HEREBY, I DECLARE RAIZEL DI DRAGUNOV AS THE GUARDIAN OF TIME!" with that statement, the world erupted in brightness and then went to complete darkness.
