" Why am I sitting in your car again ?" I asked the devil who sat beside me and was busy driving his Lamborghini. He just glanced at me and then right at the road. Come on look at me when I am asking you something. I tapped my foot patiently for quite a few minutes. He was still glued to the whole road view. Okay, Mel what do you do when you wanna get a mans attention? Not that I have had a boyfriend before but there must be some way I could grab his attention. Like Archimedes When he found out the meaning and importance of density and yelled Eureka. Even my mind yelled Eureka as I swung my arm over my head and it came crashing down on his head. Did I mention my hand was in a fist? Very well it was bound to work and even hurt. The sound of agony and pain from the other side confirmed the success of my plans. As the car screeched to a halt, as angry eyes locked into mine.
" Why did you hit me ?" He asked
" You weren't listening to me "
" Do you realize that you have hit your boss who could fire you right now ?" He said arching an eyebrow at me. Even though he looked angry as a bear his voice was not so angry, but the sarcastic tone of his voice was enough to send me in anger. My own brows furrowed in anger. The job was a support system not only for me but also for Ethan. We needed to live in a city whose reputation was excelled in competition among one another. For a girl like me with no support not even from my mother, it was difficult. A man like you would never understand the problems of a middle-class person. We need to plan out every day so that we can save money for the future. Enough of philosophy already - my inner voice yelled at me. Snapping back to reality I realized we were still stationary and not even his expression had changed a bit. He is expecting an answer, silly girl. Oh right, that's why?
" You couldn't fire me. We as you may notice are outside the office and technically speaking you aren't my boss at this moment ." I huffed. Great job bringing up a logical answer. Thanks. He looked puzzled for a moment. I thought I had won in this unreasonable conversation but I was wrong. His fingers drummed the steering wheel rhythmically as a quarter of a smile crept up. He turned to look at me as a full evil smile came into my view.
" If I am not your boss at this moment then what am I right now ? " the question started me for a second. Come to the answer. What can I possibly answer? I have been trapped in my own game. You need to say something otherwise you lose. May I remind you this isn't a competition. It sure seems like one. Okay fine, let me think.
" Y-Your y-your m-my -" Stop stuttering would you? You are not talking to a stranger or worse a kidnapper. Stranger, yes. " You are a stranger who I know from a distance ?" It came out as a question again. Stop talking to me for a second. The answer was not up to my mark of sarcasm or my Witt. But that was enough to shut his mouth for good. In response to my question, he snatched my bag and flung it out of the window. As far as my eye could see my bag had fallen onto the footpath. Dirty one. I opened the car door and ran up to my bag . One thing was for sure he sure could throw may I say very far . Do you think he played baseball or cricket ? What would I know ? As far as I am concerned I want my bag safe and sound and please stop talking you are not helping . We both are one . You realise that don't you ? . Yeah . Now quiet . I jumped up on the pavement and grabbed my sling . Opening the zipper on it I found everything intact except for my phone . Some part of it had a small dent and it was chipped . I felt horrible. But my feeling on agony was ripped away when I heard the engine start . I looked back to see the window down and the devil happily waving at me . Realisation struck me , as the car roared to life and took away leaving me in dust and smoke . I began chasing it but it turned off to the right corner . When I finally reached the corner puffing my lungs out I saw only the street lights and nothing else. What are we gonna do? This time I really didn't know.

Infinity. Infinite. My walking felt infinite. Time felt infinite. How long was I walking? I never cared all I knew that I had to reach home safely and in one piece. New York, a city that never sleeps. But not always you find light in dark places. Sometimes darkness overrules all light. The same way not all of New York was preppy, chilled and outgoing. There were places where not even rats moved. Deathly silence, misty light of the street reflecting down on the pavement and soft blowing breeze. That was all that to be found. My internet was fluctuating with every step and it was hard to keep up. Why do you think he left us? I think calling him a stranger offended him. It hurt him. That block of stone would never get hurt instead it would hurt others. I heard muffled sounds from the other side of the pavement. There were voices of pain and hurt but there was laughter too. There was an alley turning to a left. I crossed the small road as I just stayed back hearing.
" LEAVE ME " a shrill loud voice echoed. Gulping up I peeked against the red brick wall. There was a gang. 5 of them which I could notice by their silhouette and beneath them lay a guy about 16 to 17 yr of age. He was begging, crying as he kissed a mans shoe. Who appeared to be a boss of this so-called Gang. He lifted him up by his collar as he threw him off to the side and sat down on a huge metal tank. The guy stood up blood down his forehead. Stealth. Use stealth and scurry off. Can't you see he's injured? When did you start to care? Move. No. I won't I can-
" Hey, boss. Why don't we slit his throat up and dump him somewhere ?" One said. Which one I didn't know.
" Why doesn't he just let the dogs after him ? " another one said.
" Bro you a p***y. Man up man. This guy ain't gonna go that easy "
" Yeah mate. Let the dogs after him and then kill this little pest " I shuddered at all the ideas given. I was so caught up that I didn't even realize I had a can on a roll. The slightest sound made all of them stare in my direction. I lay their still my back on the red wall as muffled footsteps made their way towards me. 4 of them came out and locked their gazes with mine. Each one had worn a mask identical.
" Look what we found. Little girly lost her way here, mate. "
" Do you need any help? We all are here to help " another one snickered
" You didn't hear what was happening here, did you? Girlie " another one said
" Yes, I did. And I am gonna call the police over here " I stood up straight even though my knees were giving away. What are you DOING? these people are gonna cut you and dump you somewhere . Don't you get it? RUN.
" Oh really girlie. Hey boss. Why don't we take them both down ?" He called out to the guy seated on the tank. He jumped down from his position and came along our way. He stood in the middle of the pack. He gazed up and down and finally they locked into mine. I gulped once again. Goodbye world, we are gonna die. Thanks to this fine lady here. Shut up already. This isn't the time to ponder. His face broke into a smile. He took a step front as I took one back. I hadn't realized that the guy who I had taken so much of courage to stand up to fled away. Look, there isn't any respect for sacrifice? Why? Shut up. The boss as they called backed me up until I hit the brick wall. I looked up to getting something to hit and flee. But there wasn't any.
" Hey, boss. Why don't we have fun with this girlie for a while ? " the one standing right next to him said. I shuddered in fear. They weren't gonna do that right? The boss in front of me turned and punched him right on his nose. Blood. Blood trickled down his nose as all of them looked in horror at the boss. He c****d his head towards me and lowered himself till he reached my ear.
" Run, " he said. All of them looked shocked including me. I looked wide-eyed at him and the other people.
" BUT BOSS. what if she spills ?"
" She belongs to me. Now run my princess before I change my mind " he said
I grabbed my sling and broke in for a run. If I had run that fast during my school I would have gained 1 St prize for sure. I reached my aunt's house safely. Ethan looked worried but I told him not to worry before I locked myself into a room. The event was so dreadful and still now I was trembling and eyes stung as silent tears escaped. It was pure luck that I had survived this even though the sacrifice I had made for that stranger was unfruitful. Today was a long day and I needed rest. Lot of it. I laid back on to my aunt's guest room bed. And just breathe in silence. The ping! The sound of my mobile bought me back to reality. As I opened the message on my phone, I froze. There was a message from an unknown number.
' Goodnight Princess ' it read
How had he got my number .........
