The White House Raid

The HEROES transport aircraft descended through the night sky like a streak of gold and black. Inside, the young recruits sat strapped into their seats, the roar of the engines shaking the cabin. No one joked now. This was no training ground. This was real. Ava stared out the small side window, her hands clenched together. Shine leaned toward her and whispered, “Are you okay?” Ava swallowed. “I thought I was… until now.” Shine forced a smile. “Same.” Across from them, Lacy folded her arms confidently. “If anyone tries anything, I’m blasting them into next week.” Mia chuckled. “That’s the spirit.” James sat on the hybrid side, trying to act calm, but his leg kept shaking. Kennedy noticed and smirked. “You’re bouncing like the aircraft is sitting on your knee.” James glared. “I’m not nervous.” Lena, seated beside him, looked at him and smiled. “Your hand is gripping the seat like it insulted your family.” Kennedy burst into laughter. James quickly released the seat. “I was… adjusting.” Lena laughed softly. And for a brief moment, James forgot they were heading into danger. --- The White House The aircraft doors opened. The recruits stepped out into chaos. The White House grounds were torn apart. Several walls had been blasted open. Smoke poured from shattered windows. Emergency lights flashed red across the night. Military vehicles were overturned. The smell of burnt metal and blood filled the air. Ava stopped in her tracks. Her eyes widened. There were guards on the floor. Some motionless. Some frozen entirely in blocks of ice, expressions trapped in terror. Others lay in pools of blood. Shine covered her mouth. “Whoa…” Ava whispered, “That’s… a lot of blood.” Shine nodded slowly. “Tell me about it.” Lena and James stepped out behind them. James looked around in disbelief. “This is insane.” Lena’s expression hardened. “No… this is what happens when people with powers forget they’re human.” Merson stood near the front line with older HEROES agents. He turned sharply to the recruits. “This is your first live mission. Stay with your teams. Take them alive if possible. Do not wander off.” Mia smirked under her breath. “Take them alive. Boring.” Ava heard that and glanced nervously at her. --- Inside the White House The group moved carefully through the ruined corridors. Broken marble littered the floor. Paintings had been ripped from walls. The emergency sirens echoed through the building. James and Lena moved together with their hybrid squad. As they turned into one of the west chambers— They found four thieves shoving expensive artifacts into black duffel bags. One of them looked up and smirked. “Well, well. The HEROES sent children.” Lena crossed her arms. “You know, for a pretty good thief, I’d advise starting somewhere a little smaller.” The thief grinned. “Like where? Your house?” Lena tilted her head and smiled coldly. “No. Like your cottage.” She flicked her hand forward. WHAM! The thief was launched straight upward, slammed against the ceiling, and crashed back to the floor unconscious. James blinked. Kennedy whispered from behind, “Remind me never to insult her house.” The remaining thieves attacked. One fired a blast of ice. James reacted instantly. Electricity surged through his hands and he sprinted at blinding speed, dodging the attack and knocking the thief into a broken table. Lena telekinetically hurled another into a wall. Kennedy used water to slam the last one into the floor. --- Ava’s Team On the east side of the White House, Ava’s team found a larger group. Eight thieves. One of them was lifting a heavy safe with telekinesis. Mia stepped forward. “Finally.” Before Ava could stop her— Mia vanished. She teleported directly behind one thief and blasted him with purple energy, sending him through a glass display case. Shine summoned a wave of water that knocked two others down. Ava stretched out both hands. One thief charged her with a blade— She panicked— And suddenly teleported behind him. The thief froze in confusion. Ava raised her hand and water from a shattered fountain surged around his legs, trapping him. Lacy shapeshifted her arm into a giant claw and knocked another thief out cold. Within minutes— The thieves were overwhelmed. One by one. All 22 of them. Captured. Bound. Taken back aboard HEROES transport aircraft. --- Back at HEROES Academy The captured thieves were marched into the high-security HEROES prison facility. The news channels exploded with reports. A reporter appeared live on every screen: “Thanks to the swift response of the HEROES organization, all twenty-two superpowered criminals responsible for the White House assault have been captured. Authorities confirm the students involved in the mission performed exceptionally…” Cheers broke out across the academy. Students who had stayed behind applauded as the transport teams returned. Merson stood in the technical department as everyone watched the broadcast. For once, even he looked proud. He addressed the returning recruits. “Well done.” The room clapped. James looked relieved. Ava smiled when she saw T.L standing with Clarence near the technical screens. She waved excitedly. T.L waved back. But then— Merson turned slowly toward T.L. The room quieted. His expression became cold again. “Young lady.” T.L straightened. “Yes sir?” Merson stepped closer. His voice was low and cutting. “Your days in this academy are numbered.” The room froze. T.L blinked. “What did I do wrong?” Merson’s face tightened. “The wrong thing you did… was ask that question.” He hissed in annoyance. Then turned and walked out without another word. Silence hung in the room. T.L stood there, hurt and confused. Why did he hate her so much? She had done nothing. Clarence nudged her shoulder. T.L didn’t respond. Clarence nudged harder. Still nothing. Then Clarence leaned in and whispered dramatically: “Hey.” T.L sighed. “What?” Clarence grinned. “The party.” T.L paused. Then slowly smiled despite herself. “Oh…” Clarence raised both brows. “You’re not spending your first HEROES party looking like someone deleted your favorite app.” T.L laughed. A small laugh. But real. And for that moment— The pain eased. Just a little. Because tonight, there would be music. Lights. Students from every division. And none of them knew… The party would change everything.
