All the lectures passed in a haste. All I could remember is there were three lectures supposed to be held between physics and the break.
The bell rang and the teacher in my class left. All the other students ran from their classes as if their class was on fire and they had only twenty seconds to be out.
Since mom wasn't home so I did not bring lunch. I decided to stand by the window and gauge the trees outside. It was beautiful, the weather was serene, not too warm, not too cold. I liked these days where there would be no humidity.
Suddenly there was a tap on my shoulder and on turning my face to left, Rohan was standing.
"Umm okay, so apologies for that book".
"None required" ,I said looking at the birds, wow what a formation they make.
"We are even now, right? He asked again.
"Yep", I said, my attention still on birds.
Just when he turned to walk, I asked him another question, "Why were you eager to submit the assignment anyway, it's not like you care ".
"This is between you and me, don't tell a single soul. Ms. Agarwal caught me with Sumiti last week, she threatened to suspend me, so I wanted to submit the assignment to get away from her radar, you know!!".
"What", I asked with shock. Still unable to believe what he said
"Okay so I was on the chair, she was sitting on my lap and I was kissing her and my hands were inside her jeans and her hands...."
" Whoooooa, I never asked for visual picture. ",I halted his story.
"But you said 'what' which meant you couldn't get it", he justified his explanation.
"Generally Mr. Mehra people use 'what' to express their shock too".
"Whatever fatso. And why are you standing over here. Shouldn't you be eating your lunch or something".
I opened my mouth to respond but then Mohit hawled from the window, "Ro we don't have full day. Come on now".
"You go I'll catch on stairs, I promise", he told Mohit. Mohit was a guy from the other class. He had opted for commerce.
" You know, you can do much better in the time than standing over there", Mohit said as he left.
"Sorry for that", Rohan said apologetically.
"Nevermind", I said and he left. I was again busy with bird formation. How do they fly in that close shape? What if a bird is overweight, would it be still able to fly?
"Hey Ritu" There was a tap on my shoulder again. It was Rohan again
" This is my lunch. Since you don't have yours eat mine. I am going with the boys, bye now. Gotta go", he kept his lunch on the windowpane and left. No way am writing his next assignment.
" I won't write your maths assignment" I informed him loudly.
"Not required" he yelled back.
The class was empty. I went to my spot and opened my lunch. It had delicious aalo burji garnished with coriander leaves and paranthas with mint chutney. I decided to have a bite. It tasted delicious but something was missing, I don't know what definitely something was absent. Then I remembered. Well, that's the funny thing about your mother's taste. You don't like it until you don't have it because then you start missing it. I ate just two bites and put his lunch on his seat. The bell rang indicating the break hour was over.
This lecture was Computer science or physical education. Mr. Bambari taught us computer science and well sports teacher was someone with the female attention and I did not know his name. All I knew about him was he was young with tongue-twisting hotness and like all the other sports teachers of the world, he wasn't familiar with English as well. I opted for computer science because no one could bear the sight of someone thrice overweighed running, forget everyone I couldn't bear it myself.
I was the only girl in computer science class. All the others opted for physical education. The reasons were abundantly clear to the most unknown person also. First was the tracksuit that was provided especially to those who opted for the subject. It wasn't any sports tracksuit. The body-hugging t-shirt and pants could make any girl look curvier. I said any girl, not me, I did not have curves, I have bulges, ready-to-come-out-from-shirt bulges. Second I just mentioned in the above lines, sports teacher. The third was the time. Two hours allotted for the subject gave everyone plenty of time to just form a group and have chat and fool around or you could just sit with your lover in the corner and make out.
None of the prescribed reasons had the structure where I could fit hence computer science. Needless to say, Rohan was in physical education. He came into the class and saw his lunch filled with food. He gestured me from his seat asking why I had not finished the lunch. I shrank my nose and made my eyes a bit smaller and moving my face from left to right, implying I wasn't in the mood for food. Apparently, everyone but him in the class understood because he decided to scribble something in the chit and asked the boy behind to pass it on to me. When the chit reached to me, it read it this-
My mom would kill me. You could have eaten that
(-_-)
For a split second, I thought he offered lunch because he was concerned about me, but no. He was concerned about the scorn sentences his mother would say because he hasn't eaten his lunch. I scribbled on the back of it and passed him back which made him furious and he left the class.
Best of luck with that (^_^) I hope you get grounded.
