"FORGIVE ME, FATHER, for I have sinned." Dar slid into the pew beside Father Pietro.
The priest looked askance at him. "You've never been one for confession, Dar. What brings you to haunt me at this ungodly hour of the night?"
"Is what I say bound by the seal of the confessional?" Dar focused on the priest's hands as he spoke.
"Are you going to murder someone?" Father Pietro asked with a dry laugh that turned into a phlegmatic cough.
"Would that change things?" Dar shifted his gaze to the cross as the silence beside him grew deeper.
"No."
"So you're bound?"
"You're not Christian, Dar." Dar heard a rattle in the priest's chest as he sighed between sentences. "But what you say to me is bound by the seal of my confessional."
