CHAPTER EIGHT "YOU'RE STILL AVOIDING me." Mina ran face first into Bee as she rounded the corner in the dark basement hallway. The cat squawked as it jumped out of her arms, its claws conveying its chagrin at being squished. "Hmm, no," Mina said, tracking the cat as it took off down the hall while cursing herself for not paying more attention to her surroundings. She reached out to grab it, too late despite her enhanced reflexes, and started after the animal. "Cat!" Bee placed a hand on her shoulder. "I assume the cat's been fed and can fend for itself for a while." Her grip was light but the intention incontrovertible. Mina's shoulders sagged.
