Chapter 11: Linear Equations 11.1 Introduction to Linear Equations A linear equation is an equation where the highest power of the variable is 1. It has the general form: ax+b=0ax + b = 0ax+b=0 Where aaa and bbb are constants and xxx is the variable. 11.2 Solving Linear Equations To solve a linear equation, isolate the variable on one side of the equation. Example: 2x+3=112x + 3 = 112x+3=11 Subtract 3 from both sides: 2x=82x = 82x=8 Divide both sides by 2: x=4x = 4x=4Exercises Exercise 1: Solve the following linear equations: 3x+5=143x + 5 = 143x+5=14 2y−7=92y - 7 = 92y−7=9 4a+6=184a + 6 = 184a+6=18 5b−10=205b - 10 = 205b−10=20 7x+12=367x + 12 = 367x+12=36 Exercise 2: Solve for the unknown variable: 6x−4=166x - 4 = 166x−4=16 8y+2=348y + 2 = 348y+2=34 3z+5=203z + 5 = 203z+5=20 2m−8=122m - 8 = 122m−8=12 4n+9=254n + 9 = 254n+9=25 I know that it's hard at the first try but when you understand it you will find it very very very easy Eslam Assem Thank you. I hope you enjoy it. To be continued if you didin't try you will not be able to solve anything in this lesson do ok. Thanks.
