Chapter 13
I wiped the tears from my eyes and the old woman rubbed my back softly. “Mon cher, you will be fine. Come inside with me.” She helped me up and led me down the dirt road.
“Thank you.” I sniffled and wiped my nose on the handkerchief she offered me. “Who are you?”
“I am Agnès and have been expecting you.” She put her arm around me, squeezed me tight and pulled me along.
“You are expecting me? Do you work for Queen Mab?” Up ahead I could see the manor and several gardeners tending to the flowers on the opposite side. The manor was small and more rustic than I would have expected from the la petite Reine. I know not why but I had thought she lived in a large castle.
