Chapter Sixty One
We arrived at the Smith Mansion safely. Mom and I went out at the same time before Angelo could even turn the engine off. I looked at Mayor Smith who was standing on the porch with his wife.
Angelo went out of the car.
We waited for him so that we could walk together. The police officers who escorted us went to the Mayor directly. They talked for a moment. The three of us started walking towards the Mayor.
Mrs. Smith removed her hold on the Mayor's arm and walked towards me when Angelo, my Mom, and I stopped in front of them.
Mrs. Smith held my arms first while she looked at me with such adoration in her eyes before she hugged me. "It is nice to see you again, Selena," she whispered in my ear.
