Today is the day. After that long run yesterday I went to bed and didn't wake up until 5 this morning. Anxiety was coursing through my body and I was trying my best to keep my cool. I got dressed and lingered in my room a bit then went to my office skipping my morning rounds. I shuffled in my chair a bit trying to get comfortable and settle down when a beautiful woman appeared before me in a deep purple dress that went down to the ground. She was no bigger than 5'1" with skin the color of the deep rich earth. "You didn't think I would keep you waiting all day did you?" A playful smile forming on her lips. I was in utter shock trying to figure out where she came from. I must have looked like a fish out of water the way my eyes were bulging and my mouth was opening and closing trying to find the words to say. She waved her arm and rolled her eyes as if to give me permission to stop making a fool of myself. "Yes, yes. I am the Mage Rafi and I'm here to help you with all your problem big guy." I was a bit confused, I thought she was a he this whole time, but now that she stood before me there was no way of denying that the curvy purple eyed black haired person was indeed a woman. I watched as she was obviously stifling back a giggle. She looked at me with a wide tooth smile. "I get that a lot. Everyone thinks I am a old guy saying I sound funny on the phone" I looked a bit confused and then we shared a awkward silence.
"So, I'll need all day with you. Will that be a problem? Trust me no one will know you even left." she announced perkily breaking the quiet. I looked down for a bit. I knew she only meant it one way when she said no one will know I left but I took it 2 ways, no one will care because they haven't for a long time. I didn't want to throw a pity party though, I sat up and nodded. I needed this opportunity to fix things and I wasn't going to let me be too emotional ruin it. It was time for me to start acting like the Alpha the pack needed. "Good! Today we are going to time travel. what happens with what you learn will be up to you. you get to see this day and follow 2 people who will you choose?" She looked at me as if she asked me the most simplest question in the world and I looked back at her like she was crazy but clearly she is Because even in our world people don't just time travel everyday. But I thought about it for a second, and I knew my first choice it sat in my head like it was calling to me. "Can I choose one person now and then the second person once we get started?" I asked hopefully? She looked at me thoughtfully as her head c****d to the side. Then she just shrugged. "Never had that request before but I don't see why not! Now which festival would you like to go back to?" She said everything like it was normal. Seeing how she was a mage it made since that she probably really did do this all the time.
I knew exactly which one but I needed to understand what was supposed to happen here and how exactly this was going to help. "Wait one second," I said quickly trying to ask before anything happened, "Why does it have to be a festival night? How is this supposed to help my pack? Can I change anything?" As I fired off questions at her she raised her hand again. I immediately sat silent. I watched her gracefully walk around the desk to me and put her soft pretty hands on mine. I was immediately more calm. "No. you will not be able to change anything, but with knowledge come power." She said softly. "This Festival is one that is the center part of your destiny. You were born this night and you will one day long from now die this night as well." Her words brought chills to my skin. I was starting to understand the magnitude of my decision and how important this could be for me plus, it wasn't lost on me that she told me on what day I will die. I just wasn't entirely sure I knew how to handle what would come. What if I didn't like what I saw? What if the past is too painful and will only bring pain and not the knowledge I sought? I also knew though, I couldn't keep living like this or not only me but my whole pack will seize to exist. I heard in hushed whispers what people thought about me both in and out of my pack. They thought I was weak alpha and they thought it was only a matter of time before some stronger pack would come along and slaughter us. It was disheartening they thought so little of me, but I understood why. Rafi took my hands breaking me out of my thoughts and we both stood up together. "Tell me what you need to see." She urged. Taking a deep breath I said "The festival 3 years ago. I need to see my daughter."
