The thought of having to work alongside Derek has me questioning myself about how it would be. But the question I really need an answer to is why he wants to go the extra mile for me just to ensure I feel safe and at the same time occupied.
“Isn’t that going to be a waste of time for you? You know, trying to ensure my safety and working at the same time?” I ask him to which he smiles.
“If it were hard, I would not be suggesting it,” he says. “Just agree to it, and that's all. You don’t need to worry about how I handle myself.”
I deliberate over it for a minute but still, I could not decide on what I wanted. Most of me is skeptical about being outside of these walls so it would surely take a while before I come around.
