DEREK:
My father sighs, closing his eyes as he does so. He seems tense and I was well aware of that.
I keep waiting for him to come around and that eventually happens about a minute later.
“Rasmus was in the council meeting today,” he suddenly announces while opening his eyes to stare at him with the tension still obvious on his face. “And him being there was up to no good.”
Now I am the tensed one. Because knowing that Alpha Rasmus had gone into a council meeting that I was aware was not one he was involved with really meant something.
I try not to let the thought overwhelm me as I proceed to ask, “Why was he there?”
“To talk about Layla... and to tell me to warn you at the end.”
My heart skips a beat at the mention of that. Have I become a target for the monster as well? Damn it.
