The thought of her crawling back to me made my teeth ache with satisfaction. She’d be punished for flaunting herself, for touching another man while she still hadn’t freed me from her claws. I pictured chaining her in the dungeons, leaving her there a week for every time she’d let him touch her.
My beast had other ideas.
The second I stepped into the lobby and felt her presence, the wolf in me reared, furious and demanding. He wanted to tear across the room, to protect her, to possess her, to f**k her senseless. He didn’t understand the calculations of men he only felt. But I was thinking. I had cut the cord; I had rejected her. I would not allow some human or Fae to control me. I was a future Alpha. I would not be overrun.
