Auren’s POV “What are you doing out here?” I asked, already knowing she hadn’t slept a wink. I’d heard her tossing and turning all night. Either she’d been too angry to rest, or she’d been wrestling with the same thing keeping me awake. After holding her again last night, I couldn’t shake the memory. I wanted to fall asleep that way every night with her in my arms. Instead, I was back on the cold floor, trying to convince myself I was fine with it. It felt harder than before, crueler even, and more than once, I’d been tempted to climb back into bed beside her. No one had forced me down there. I’d chosen it. She needed space, and I owed her that much. But if I woke up with her pressed against me again, I knew I’d lose control. I’d have her moaning my name before the sun was even up. “
