I couldn’t help smiling when I heard Auren clear his throat right before one of the guards hurried after us. The sound alone made my stomach flutter. I risked a glance over my shoulder, and when Auren’s eyes caught mine and he winked, heat bloomed across my cheeks. I looked away quickly, biting my lip to hide the smile that threatened to betray me.
It worked in our favor, how easily my body reacted to him. The pull between us wasn’t something I had to fake it was written in every look, every breath.
