Lorien POV Auren’s thumb drummed against the steering wheel, completely out of rhythm with the soft music humming through the car speakers music I knew he wasn’t actually listening to. His mind was elsewhere. I could see it in the tension etched along his jaw, the slight furrow between his brows. Whatever he was thinking about was bothering him. I wasn’t exactly relaxed either. He hadn’t come back to our room last night. After what happened between us the kiss that still lingered on my lips like a secret I thought maybe we’d crossed into new territory. But apparently, I was wrong. Whatever that moment meant to me, it had clearly rattled him in ways he didn’t want to face. He’d spoken only two words to me all morning, and they were delivered in front of half the pack as we were leaving
