Lorien’s POV
My nose burned, that sharp sting warning me of the tears gathering at the corners of my eyes. I blinked rapidly, desperate to keep them from falling before he noticed but of course, he did. His hand rose to cradle my cheek, his thumb grazing my skin as he gently tilted my chin upward, forcing me to meet his gaze.
“Little Fairy,” Auren murmured, regret softening his tone. “I’m so sorry I hurt you. I didn’t think it mattered since it wasn’t in public”
“Even if you thought it was private,” I interrupted, my voice trembling but steady enough, “Lysandra made sure the entire pack knew. She made it public, Auren.” I swallowed hard, pulling away from his touch, needing distance between us. “But that’s not the only reason I did what I did.”
